this has me thinking about what the end will look like, and how it will happen. i think we all know it will happen fast.

there has been some speculation about the way members of congress have dribbled out to the teevee cameras to add their names to the whip count.
i have posited that is a plan to beat the drum.
one name today, one news cycle, one tomorrow, another cycle.
several on friday to win the sunday shows.
if any of this is a plan, this is what i think should happen this weekend-
i think 4-5 new reps will come out. maybe more dem senators will make strong statements. maybe someone respected from law enforcement or intelligence.
any other candidates that are ripe, but havent said it to the cameras?

if the plan is working, some spooks will come out.
there will be a leak or other reveal of something new. maybe something will get unredacted from mueller, or stone, or...
hopefully the media pounces.

And the House Judiciary Committee now has the exact same legal standing to request grand jury materials as any impeachment inquiry would have.

Moreover, so far, the courts have sided with the House on its requests to uphold subpoenas and is doing so with lightning fast timing so there's no evidence that an impeachment inquiry would put them in any better position.

12. I say take Tribe's third option. The House can wait to refer it to the Senate until the Republicons

... abandon tRump, as will happen, perhaps after he loses the election (hard work yet!) but maybe before. (Note: no trial in the Senate for out of office politicians.)

With tRump impeached but not referred, it would allow Democratic candidates to make tRump-Republicons have to own all of his shit during the election.



Trump is daring the House to impeach because he thinks he has the Senate sewn up. If it failed the trial in the Senate, he would crow and crow and crow all the way through the 2020 election.

So, don't give him what he wants the most (failed Senate trial) and give him what he wants least: impeachment in the House without referral.

As long as Democrats (other than Manchin) don't vote to acquit as well. Republicans will put their reputations and credibility on the line for Trump give him a party-line acquittal, but will that ultimately mean much? Unless they make a blazingly awesome and powerful argument for doing so, it will just look like them continuing to enable and cover for Trump to most people (paying attention) IMHO.
