Israeli Town Named After Trump Appears to be Fake News

By Josh Marshall

June 16, 2019 11:24 pm

The founding of the town of “Trump Heights” (Ramat Trump) was greeted with great fanfare. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and American Ambassador David Friedman held a deluxe ceremony to celebrate the new town in the Golan Heights which President Trump officially recognized as part of Israel earlier this year. Trump himself thanked Israel for the honor in a celebratory tweet.

But according to an article in the Israeli daily Ha’aretz and multiple reports in the Israeli press, it’s more Potemkin village than Trump Heights. No actual town or village has actually been founded at all. It appears to be little more than a PR stunt to curry favor with the President who continues to openly support Netanyahu as the country moves toward new elections in September. No money has been budgeted for the new town. Nor is there specific location. Indeed, there’s no commitment to build a town at all. The decision will be left to the government that takes power after the next election. In the words of Israeli journalist Barak Ravid: “A settlement by the name of “Trump Heights” or “Ramat Trump” doesn’t exist. It my exist in the future but the Israeli cabinet still hasn’t even decided to do it. For now there’s only a sign.“

The head of the Golan caucus in the Israeli Knesset, Zvi Hauser went even further: “Anyone who reads the fine print of the ‘historic’ decision understands that this is a conceptual decision. There is no funding. There is no planning. There is no location and there is really no committed decision.”

The ceremony seems to be an effort to further burnish the current government’s bond with President Trump who loves nothing more than a ribbon cutting ceremony with his name is shiny gold lettering. The decision to build a town may be taken later. Or it may never happen at all. For Trump the fine print doesn’t seem to matter.

It is embarrassing as hell. That's probably the best thing I can say...

Netanyahu was educated in the US--both primary and high school in Philadelphia and returned during Trump's epic decade, the mid to late 70s, to attend MIT. So, he could not be better positioned to "KNOW" Trump and to put that knowledge to his manipulative use. Only Putin, with his KGB background, would likely be more effective.

It's easier to spew propaganda then to actually do what is best for most all your citizens.

But it's just the American ambassador, and, I guess, his wife. Seriously, I thought it was that schlocky.

14. NO, it was faked news. No town, no government, no site, no planning approval, no funding exists.

The only "real" thing in the whole deal was the prop sign which was the backdrop for a fake event. Netanyahu doens't have the authority and his government is broken, until the next election, so it cannot do anything he said it would do to make good Bibi's faked event. The whole thing is a fake photo-op of Bibi electioneering on Trump's name. Same crap W used to pull, fake backdrop included.

It looks like a sign at a county fair.

They also got the American Flag wrong. The stripe under the blue field with stars is a WHITE stripe not a RED stripe.

It was a political stunt done on the fly. Netanyahu is as craven and fraudulent as Trump, that's why the love each other.

River of Blood (monument)

"The River of Blood" is a monument located on a golf course on Lowes Island, Virginia owned by US President Donald Trump. A plaque signed with Trump's name states that the monument marks the place of numerous deaths in the American Civil War, although no listed battle nor publicly disclosed event with any recorded casualties took place at the site.

Monument

On the course, between the 14th hole and the 15th tee, Trump had a stone pedestal built with a flagpole on it, and had a plaque placed on the pedestal with the inscription:

Many great American soldiers, both of the North and South, died at this spot, "The Rapids", on the Potomac River. The casualties were so great that the water would turn red and thus became known as "The River of Blood".

The plaque bears Trump's name and the Trump Organization's crest. The accompanying text reads, "It is my great honor to have preserved this important section of the Potomac River!"

Israel has a full share of Zionist zealots, of course, but the days of aggressive religious extremists carrying guns while they erect swing sets to mark territory for Israel are pretty much over. These days most of those who consider buying what are now typically tract homes in disputed areas are just people who can't afford homes in closer, safer, less controversial ones.

Whoever said, "You can't con a con," never met DJT. First Trump Tower Moscow, now Trump Heights in Israel. Flatter the man, lead him on, he'll give you not just his dignity, but his country.

The settlement isn't exactly new. Currently known as Bruchim, it is over 30 years old and has a population of 10 people.
