(118,278 posts)An attendee at the Republican National Convention in Tampa on Tuesday allegedly threw nuts at a black camerawoman working for CNN and said This is how we feed animals before being removed from the convention, a network official confirmed to TPM.
The CNN official declined to confirm specific details of the incident to TPM but generally confirmed an account posted on Twitter by former MSNBC and Current anchor David Shuster: GOP attendee ejected for throwing nuts at African American CNN camera woman + saying This is how we feed animals.
It is not clear whether the alleged culprit was a delegate or attending the convention in some other capacity ...

(15,936 posts)CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.
Sure they confirmed the event did happen. However, they "will have NO further comment". So, they will not report this incident to their viewers. It might make someone look bad. Whether that would be the RNC or their own network. They will NOT report further.
Just as I suspected would happen that is why I asked. I knew they would not pursue it only confirm it happened.

They are showing themselves and are being enabled by the Republicans. I'm not surprised, but I fear for the country. Who doubts that if they are elected, we could follow the same path. The college prison guard experiments, the Tuskeegee experiment, etc., each country in the world is always in danger from the minority with sick minds.

This is an exceptionally ugly example of the effect of such an environment. Clearly this woman believes that races other than her own are subhuman, and she believes that she is in a place (the GOP convention) that shares this belief so of course such an action is acceptable.
Glad she was thrown out. But doubt there was much discussion as to why - and the prevailing dog whistles will embolden others and reinforce their beliefs of supremacy.

(28,498 posts)The strategy was first adopted under future Republican President Richard Nixon and Republican Senator Barry Goldwater[1] in the late 1960s.[2] The strategy was successful in some regards. It contributed to the electoral realignment of Southern states to the Republican Party, but at the expense of losing more than 90 percent of black voters to the Democratic Party. As the twentieth century came to a close, the Republican Party began trying to appeal again to black voters, though with little success.[2]
In 2005, the head of the Republican National Committee, Ken Mehlman said at the NAACP convention, "Some Republicans gave up on winning the African-American vote, looking the other way or trying to benefit politically from racial polarization,". He also added. "I am here as Republican chairman to tell you we were wrong."[3]

(6,801 posts)You do realize though that in any instance posted on here of the OWS misbehaving someone will blame agent provocateurs right?
It's hypocritical to assume everyone who does wrong on your side is a paid agent of the devil . . . er sorry the opposition whereas everyone who does wrong on the other side is a representative sample of that position.
This could have been a republican being racist. It could have been someone trying to use guilt by association. I don't know.
But I do know that I have issues with people who only give the benefit of the doubt to one side. It's silly to assume with no evidence that every OWS protester breaking windows is a paid republican operative. Not so?
Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)There's no good reason for anybody who claims to be on the left or center-left to be dissing OWS...especially in a situation where what happened with them is completely irrelevant.
OWS is the only reason the GOP is in danger of losing. If they hadn't appeared, Romney would probably be fifteen points ahead and Obama wouldn't even be trying to win. If there'd been no OWS, nobody would be challenging corporate power in this country at all. OWS is the only Left we have.
Why use this discussion to piss on them?
And do you really want to establish moral equivalency between OWS and the Republiban?
Besides which, with all the emphasis OWS placed on nonviolence, it's extremely unlikely that anybody involved with them WAS responsible for any serious wrongdoing. It goes without saying that no actual OWS'er committed rape, for example.
4th law of robotics
(6,801 posts)I never attacked the OWS.
Try rereading.
Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)OWS has nothing to do with this.
And you did so to try to discredit the idea that violent incidents attributed to OWS could have been the work of provacateurs.
Why the hell did you even go there?
This isn't an OWS thread.
And OWS and the Republiban are NOT two sides of the same coin, which is what it sounds like you're implying.
4th law of robotics
(6,801 posts)do I really have to explain?
/if you think the purpose of my post was to attack the OWS then you are really bad at reading comprehension.
Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)It's not as if there's any chance the nut-thrower wasn't a Pub...why bother giving those guys the benefit of the doubt? What purpose does that serve?
And are you seriously arguing that OWS'ers themselves actually committed any significant amount of violence?
4th law of robotics
(6,801 posts)Sorry but I'm having a hard time believing that you really aren't getting it. Are you pulling my leg?
Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)Just explain yourself already. And explain why you brought OWS into the discussion of this incident when OWS is totally irrelevant to it.
4th law of robotics
(6,801 posts)since you persist in this: I was pointing out the hypocrisy of many on here (and presumably their counterparts on the other side) wherein every altercation involving a member of a well liked group (say the OWS for this forum, the teaparty for others) is immediately assumed to be the act of paid agent provocateurs from the "other side". However those exact same people are perfectly willing to believe the same behavior from a member of a less well liked group (say the RNC for this forum) must be a representative of that movement and could not possible be a disrupter posing as a member of that group.
In literally ever OWS thread I've read these sort of actions would be immediately labeled the act of foreign enemy agents.
In this thread literally no one (except yours truly) even considered the same notion but in reverse and in fact some people got angry at the very thought.
It's classic human behavior: believe only the good about people you like and believe the worst about the other side, changing standards for proof as convenient.

(11,411 posts)When discussing assistance to the poor, a Republican politician made some comment that assistance to the poor should be cut because we don't want poor people dependent on aid, just like we don't feed the animals at parks. A right wing columnist in my local paper also compared people on assistance to wild animals at national parks.
We know that the Republicans tries to portray poor people on assistance as Black.
Food assistance=Feeding
Poor people on assistance=Animals
Poor people on assistance=Black people
Black People=Animals
Throwing peanuts at a Black person and saying "This is how we feed animals." is a sarcastic representation of this idea.
The attack on a Black camera person shows how racist they are. Even though you have a skilled job at a reputable company, you still are a worthless drag on American society to them.
