No, Bill Maher. NO! Oprah for president

I don't admire her. She has never been in my living room - except when she wept in Grant Park when Obama won.

And, no, electing one celebrity does not mean that this is the way to go from now on.

No! No! No!

(I am sure Rhiannon12866 will post the New Rules soon..)

He had a whole line of attack ready tonight to say that Ds attacking each other was a sure way to lose...and then the expert guest he had on told him that the data didn’t support that claim at all. Said it only matters if the incumbent party is infighting. Ergo, the Ds should fight away.

Once that opening guest was off camera, Maher returned to his talking point with the panel.

sounds like he wants to be, but can't and won't control his basic nature. Especially when his poisonous persona is what has made him wealthy and famous. So all our candidates are discards... Umhm. Not exactly a surprise.

I think he was making fun of the uninformed out there who would vote for a celebrity that they think they "know," rather than an experienced candidate whose polices they support. And we know how he feels about Trump.

New Rule: Oprah 2020

In his editorial New Rule, Bill argues that there's only person who can OWN Trump in 2020.

who would love to see her in the White House.

And... lest we forget she raised the possibility of Obama running well before others.

But he was using her as an example of what it would take for a slam dunk win. He was right. Oprah WOULD win over Trump.

But it was a joke. Oprah is not a politician and doesn't want to run for office...ever. Any kind of office.

he did considered running before 2015 so one never knows.

Yes, Trump is still a joke but so far he and his supporters are the ones laughing.

These days I do not dismiss anything..

It's a political satirist using her has an example for a comedic bit. But it's sort of true. But she's not running, doesn't want to run, has no interest in running, and has said so more than once.

Maher was pointing out how to beat one celebrity is for another more popular celebrity to run. That would be Oprah, one of the most influential, popular celebrities in the country.

Oprah has zero interest in the job.

Maher is a comic. An actual comic, not an imagined one, like President Asshole.
