(3,054 posts)I thought Bush was the worst president ever. Trump is way worse. I strive to live in the spirit of peace and love but this president is repugnant to me. I try not to be a hater but I do hate Donald Trump.

(267,791 posts)Good post. Bush will always be guilty of war crimes against humanity. In fact, although Trump has damaged our country more domestically, Bush is responsible for far more deaths and international mayhem.

(21,541 posts)Individuals post personal details and preferences on social media sites, who in turn sell that info to marketers. Marketers use that info to manipulate people on a primal emotional basis. Oligarchs buy the services of the marketers, and we get puppet politicians and the oligarchs get tax cuts and regulation cuts.

(11,690 posts)The problem is that we thought that he was as stupid as could be but Republicans find a way to be even more stupid and corrupt. When discussing GW Bush you have to remember that he and his administration did not head warnings about terrorists plotting to attack the US. When we got attacked and the world was united in support and outrage at the attackers, he chose to invade a country that had NOTHING to do with the attacks and squandered all good will, killed thousands of American soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. His policies led to a spectacular financial collapse and cost the US trillions of dollars that took President Obama almost 8 years to claw out of.
The problem is that he doesn't seem so bad when compared to the latest jerk off that Republicans foisted on us with their cheating and win at all cost attitude. Bush attacked the rule of law and dismantled that financial bulwarks that kept our economy on track. Trump is trying to dismantle almost all of our institutions and societal norms.

(11,089 posts)There is a world of difference. For all his sins and failings (and there were a boatload) GW was not inclined toward dictator or despot. Had a least a modicum of respect for the county, it's institutions and the rule of law. I won't argue those that say he contributed to a decline of the country's standing and the office. But THIS .. this is very different.

This guy?
A whole other kettle of fish.
He's like GW on steroids but without an iota of an arguable folksy charm.
