I'm now watching an Amanpour & Co I recorded with Eva DuVernay...

who made the Netflix documentary, When They See Us about the Central Park Five.

Great interview overall, but she stopped me in my tracks when she said:

"Some people are saying the criminal justice system is broken. I don't believe it's broken-- it's working exactly as it was designed."

1. When They See Us is not a documentary

It is a miniseries. Ken Burns is who made the Central Park Five documentary.

Both are excellent. And no, I am not being pedantic -- there is a huge difference, especially since fictional series always get more notice and more accolades, and many people in When They See Us will be nominated and win awards, including many of the young black actors in it. Felicity Huffman deserves the verbal accolades, but is ineligible for awards this year due to her legal issues.

EVERYONE needs to watch When They See Us -- it is shattering, even for those of us who followed it when it happened. Or maybe, especially for us.

I would agree
When slavery ended - The prison system took over so if I look at it that way, then no its not broken. Its working exactly as it was designed.

I would also encourage people to watch her previous work 13th
