5. A pretty good sign that someone is lying

is when they over-explain things and/or blame someone else. Trump always does this, and on top of that he usually describes whichever news outlet that reports the story as "failing." He's got more tells than the worst poker player in the world. A smart person, even if he was lying, would respond by simply saying "That's not true, it didn't happen," and leaving it at that. But Trump isn't smart enough even to lie convincingly.
