Salt Lake Tribune Editorial Board: Our nation is operating concentration camps for refugee children

Yes, we do have concentration camps.

They are not work camps. They are not death camps. At least, not on purpose. Our government is not building massive gas chambers and industrial crematoria. It is not conducting sick medical experiments on members of an unfavored class.

But that does not mean that the places into which we are herding tens of thousands of migrants, refugees and asylum-seekers are not properly called concentration camps. Because that is precisely what they are.

............

It worked its way up, from nasty political speeches (check) to politicians seeking and gaining power with promises to protect the purity of the nation from foreign invasion (check) to denying basic human rights and decency to people of an unfavored class (check).

............

Our nation is operating concentration camps for refugee children. We need to stop denying that and decide if we are comfortable with that fact. And how we will explain it to our children.

ditch the Rethugs anytime soon. Their Prophet Esra Taft Benson made sure the Flock only follows the Rethugs in 1976. The same year we lost the Democratic Senate Seat to Orin Hatch and his crew form Pennsylvania.

And the same people who realized the phrase"Concentration Camps" is fresh in the memories of many in Salt Lake City. There was a nasty WW2 Japanese Internment-Concentration Camp on the west side of their city . Many of those Families stayed in that area after the War and their Presence scares the crap out of the local's.

Every newspaper in the United States should run that editorial, or others like it. The media should be fighting for access and getting reporting done in every way possible.

Drone photography.

This government has no shame. None. When a government lawyer can argue that the government is not obligated to provide basic human necessities, we have already stepped in a bizarro world.

Where is the outrage - not carefully phrased statements, but real outrage - from other governments. Where is the UN or the Red Cross demanding access? Are they all so cowed by Trumputin that they do nothing?

I know why we Americans are not out in the streets. Frankly, we don't think anything will change. And we're counting on 2020 to reverse this tide. But I'm still stumped by international silence.

camps and Immigration policies for what they are Christian HYPOCRITES!

Keep saying that until they get so mad. Label them as such in Social Media, in Letters To The Editors of your local papers, in person at Town Halls, on their FB pages, etc.

Concentration camps. Under inhumane conditions one would not put their pets through. To not even consider these children human beings, God's children, is beyond belief.

they are de facto imprisoned. We are talking about toddlers not being able to wash hands. One day we will have to pay for these atrocities that are being done using our taxpayers money.

Every year (not sure how often but happens a lot in the winter) middle-aged Mormon men "supervise" young men on their way to do "service" in Mexico. They all have a great time in our bars. Getting drunk and slinking away to fornicate with any female, or person, or entity that will have them.

My point here?

I think this has nothing to do with their moral concern for the non-Mormon children being terrorized. I think it has more to do with keeping their female-exchange/gene-pool refreshment migration trail open.
