Rep. Veronica Escobar said 30 children were at the facility near El Paso as of Monday. Her office was briefed on the situation by an official with Customs and Border Protection.
Attorneys who visited the station in Clint, Texas last week said older children were trying to take care of infants and toddlers, The Associated Press first reported Thursday. Some had been detained for three weeks, and 15 children were sick with the flu.
Its unclear where all the children have been moved. But Escobar said some were sent to another facility in El Paso.

(34,136 posts)But that is for the longer term facilities, I believe. The children being held at Clint were still under Border Patrol control (I started to type "care" but they were NOT being cared for) which I don't think is one of the private corporation run facilities.

(31,514 posts)I emailed both of my Senators (Tom Cotton and John Boozman) about this matter when the report came out about the conditions where these children were being held. I received replies that thanked me for writing and reiterated Trump's immigration policies. They very pointedly ignored my concerns.

(4,450 posts)Lots of empty former Walmart stores, with all the new Super Walmarts that have been built over the past ten years. All they will need is some chain link fencing to build the new cages. Or, I suppose, they could move the old ones.

(5,240 posts)The U.S. government has removed most of the children from a remote Border Patrol station in Texas following reports that more than 300 kids were detained there and caring for each other with inadequate food, water and sanitation.
