Government moves migrant kids after poor conditions exposed

The U.S. government has removed most of the children from a remote Border Patrol station in Texas following reports that more than 300 kids were detained there and caring for each other with inadequate food, water and sanitation.

Rep. Veronica Escobar said 30 children were at the facility near El Paso as of Monday. Her office was briefed on the situation by an official with Customs and Border Protection.

Attorneys who visited the station in Clint, Texas last week said older children were trying to take care of infants and toddlers, The Associated Press first reported Thursday. Some had been detained for three weeks, and 15 children were sick with the flu.

It’s unclear where all the children have been moved. But Escobar said some were sent to another facility in El Paso.

But that is for the longer term facilities, I believe. The children being held at Clint were still under Border Patrol control (I started to type "care" but they were NOT being cared for) which I don't think is one of the private corporation run facilities.

I emailed both of my Senators (Tom Cotton and John Boozman) about this matter when the report came out about the conditions where these children were being held. I received replies that thanked me for writing and reiterated Trump's immigration policies. They very pointedly ignored my concerns.

Lots of empty former Walmart stores, with all the new Super Walmarts that have been built over the past ten years. All they will need is some chain link fencing to build the new cages. Or, I suppose, they could move the old ones.

If the conditions in the Detention Camps are soooooooooooo great then the orange asshole should not object to have one of these Summer Camps right next to his private club.

I read that as 300 were there initially, but AS OF Monday, the number of kids was down to 30.

How does hiding them from a camera view improve their lot. Doubling down on a sick policy just makes it more sick.

With this administration, it's always about the money. They create a crisis so someone can make a buck. When the window to truth is opened, they play shell games. Disgusting!
