1. That's terrible.

20K gun suicides a year. 10K homicides of whatever stripe. <1,000 DGUs (Defensive Gun Uses), many of which are borderline criminal acts in themselves (brandishing).

America is not going to recover from its Guns Fever anytime soon.

2. Actual defensive gun uses are so damned rare that gun fetishists noisily promote ALL of them.

Mostly guns are useless.

Personally, I'm not always a civilized person living in civilized places, but I've never been in a bad situation where me holding a gun would have improved any outcome, even when I myself have been threatened by bad guys holding guns.

I don't even trust most cops to use guns wisely. I always think twice before calling 911, and most of the time I don't. I've seen cops shoot unarmed people.

It's a bad idea to let anyone you'd care to shoot live in your head. Especially yourself.
