I have to tell you about this encounter with a right-to-lifer...

This was from last week, but it's still pretty good.

I worked at the Democratic Party booth at the local fair. It was actually good this time...our right-wing state representative screwed the pooch this cycle by working to recall the mayor over a park (very long story) and a LOT of people think she shouldn't have gotten involved, so our new state rep for Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, will probably be a nice lady named Anne Nesse. (Phil Hart, the worst state legislator in Idaho, lost in the primary. The guy who will probably replace him is really disappointed he doesn't get to run against Phil Hart, but worse things have happened.)

Back to the right-to-lifer: this guy stopped by the Democratic Party booth to call us all baby-killers and worse. At one point he asked me, "so when do YOU believe life begins?" I told him life begins when you can deduct it from your taxes. It's fun to watch teabaggers' heads explode.

That life begins at 40. He's been saying this since high school in response to the abortion debate. He's still a couple years shy of it though.

because that is when we becomes one with the world. With that first breath we begin changing the atmosphere. With that first breath we begin changing the world.

There is a Youtube video about an elephant baby that is born not moving or breathing and the mother kicks it about and gets it to breath and with the camera angle you can see the baby take its first breath. It is magnificent. (I'll post it if someone wants)

The anti-abortion crowd quotes Jeremiah 1.5 (before I formed you in the womb I knew you) to justify their position on abortion, but if you read Jeremiah 1 in its entirety it's pretty damn obvious that God is speaking about one guy--the prophet Jeremiah, who that book is about--and not all of mankind.

From what I remember, the Bible says that only those over one year old are considered fully human--with the outrageous infant mortality rate back then, if everyone mourned newborns like they do now, no one would get any work done. Obviously things are better now, but the fetus fetish the RW has is recent in origin.

Was with a murderer named John salvi in Norfolk va back in the early 90's. A few days before he had shot up a clinic in Boston....killed a couple of people at the office....then fled to Virginia to a small clinic in the Norfolk area....it was a weekend, I was withdrawing money from a ATM machine next to the clinic...up drives salvi in a small pickup, stops at the office and starts unloading handguns and stink bombs into the clinic.....for what seemed like forever this guy emptied clip after clip into the building and fled once he ran out of ammo...on foot....

They're all kooks and killers IMHO...fanatics all of them...
