RENTON, WA Rather than kill his roommate, a 26-year-old Renton man reportedly broke into the King County Sheriff's Office Fairwood police substation and waited until deputies arrived to arrest him. As a kicker, the conspicuous vandal brought donuts as "a peace offering," KCSO officials said on Facebook.
While the sheriff's office only shared news of the bizarre break-in on Thursday, the incident reportedly occurred sometime last week.
After midnight, the man shattered the front window of the office located at 17620 140th Ave. S.E. in Renton, next to Rite Aid. When deputies arrived, they found the man kicking back with his feet up on a chair, watching TV in rear office. He'd apparently just smoked a cigar, officials said.
The deputy who responded asked the suspect if he broke the window to the storefront and the suspect casually replied, 'Yep,'" officials said in the Facebook post. "The suspect went on to explain that he would rather go to jail for breaking into the storefront than 'kill his roommate.'"
Expecting to raise the ire of sheriff's office personnel, the man reportedly brought donuts to smooth things over.
