...given I've been gaming on a console for over a decade (haven't logged into Steam since), I guess they need my copy of GTA III?

if I have any games loaded that I purchased through them. I only play those games in offline mode as a rule. I treat them exactly the same as Google or any other personal info harvester.

Not surprising that hackers would be in there.
