4. Great response by Chris O'Leary, followed by terrible response by Victor Lange.

Yes Victor, Trump is a saint, cant understand why more than half the country cant stand him. Must be due to the fake news media and libtard mentality. Wish we could all be as smart as you.

6. I wonder whether Victor prefers Fox or 4chan

There's obviously a rather particular type of person that Trump appeals to. Victor is a great example of the kind of blind sheep who cheer when people like Trump gain authoritarian power.

8. Victor seems to be very pleased with himself and thinks he's so smart.

What he is in reality is ignorant and afraid of losing what little power he has. Victor sees Trump as a loud blowhard who wont be ignored by others, and he wants to be that too.

I read some of the comments on that thread and it just amazes me how many people there are out there who are completely living in their own twisted reality. They cannot be reasoned with. They are more interested in hanging on to their resentments than in seeing the situation clearly.

12. I'd add he is a genocidal maniac, intent on carrying out a great genocide on the American people

He supported the House's AHCA (American Health Care Act of 2017) and the Senate's BCRA (Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017), neither of which passed, but the BCRA failed by only one vote.

The CBO estimates of how many people would lose health insurance under the Republican healthcare plans AHCA: 23 million in 2026, BCRA: 22 million in 2026

As it is, the ending of risk corridors and ending funding of cost sharing reductions, and allowing junk insurance plans to undercut the ACA etc. is estimated to cause more than 10 million to lose insurance.

I'm sorry folks, but I just don't get why people don't think this is important. I'd rather he lie to me about the jobs numbers than to kill me.

14. Yup, up only 4.2% since January 2018 (nearly 1.5 years ago)

Yes, it did super-great up to January 26, 2018 when the S&P 500 closed at 2873. But since then, it's just been essentially squirming and worming away essentially sideways

Looking at the S&P 500 just now (3:20 PM ET) it's 2993. That's up only 4.2% from the January 26, 2018 close of 2873.

Meanwhile, the job numbers are faltering

In its 29 months, the Trump economy has created 810,000 FEWER jobs than Obama's last 29 months

and the pace of job creation has markedly slowed in 2019 ...

Summary: Average monthly net new jobs created
221,000 <- Obama's last 29 months
194,000 <- Trump's 29 months (February 2017 through June 2019)
172,000 <- 2019 so far (January through June)
144,000 <- Last 5 months (February 2019 through June 2019)

Most of this is from a Forbes contributor. It also checks out with the Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers

details: https://www.democraticunderground.com/111685907

If someone says that, well gee, my boss can't find anyone to fill the open positions, the unemployment rate is at 50 year lows, blah blah, ask them why, if the labor market is so "tight", why the prime-age (25-54) labor force participation rate is down from pre-Great Recession average levels, going decades back -

16. Agreed with all but I don't have a problem with him "removing us as leaders..."

"...of the international community."

Who the hell designated the USA as a "leader" of the world anyway? I've always viewed this viewpoint as an extremely ethnocentric and racist assumption made by holier than thou white folk.

The world does not need white saviors.

20. If we don't

lend our strength to groups like NATO, then countries like Russia will become dominant in the area. Putin openly wants to end western liberalism. We need a US thats firmly committed to upholding those ideals. Im not blind to the fact that we dont always live up to our ideals, especially in places like Latin America.

22. Right, but reverse a handful of years and we openly mocked the idea that Russia was even a threat.

Remember what an ass Mittens looked like even suggesting that Russia might not be our best friend? within three years of that they were enemy #1, which tells me that the "enemy" is whomever the powers-that-be decide to tell us is the enemy at that point in time, nothing more.

21. Excellent answers.

The one he left out that I would have put high on the list is this:

Dump is using the US Presidency to enrich himself and his family. He's making a killing at his DC hotel, using it as a way for other nations to bribe him into doing what they want. He also takes money from wealthy US citizens (in the form of club fees and hotel stays) as bribes to lower their taxes. And it works. He does whatever they want...as long as they pay him.

34. I love the right-wing sealioning questions on Quora.

Usually they're more blatant, but you can hear the implication:

"Why are people (the lib'rul left) so hostile toward (our Great) President Donald J. ('murica) Trump?"

The "Hes an authoritarian populist, not a conservative." is basically the best short version of this.

It's very true: "He advances regressive social policy while proposing to expand federal spending and federalist authority over states, both of which conservatives are supposed to hate."

There is another response a bit lower from Jim Davis (likely not that one!) that starts:

He is personally despicable. He is a hardcore narcissist who cares or thinks literally about no one but himself, except maybe for Ivanka, his daughter, whom he openly lusts after, making remarks about her physical beauty, particularly her rack. These are indecent thoughts from an indecent man. He is openly misogynistic, reducing women to sex objects and admittedly grab[bing] them by the pussy. He says, They let you when youre a star, which is how he sees himself.

Further down, Michael Lawson:

Donald Trump was rich, but he was not one of them. He was brash, and bold, and he used off-color language, and hes about as subtle as a dick in a birthday cake. He got along far better with cab drivers, strippers, and construction workers than he did with Ivy League polisci dorks like the ones in Washington. He was a peasant who took a shot at the big chair, and at first, they thought it was hilarious.

Also astute observation by Adam Roach:

He asked for it.

Donald Trump has spent the last 8 years trolling Barack Obama. He became the face of Right Wing internet Trolls. Blasting the then President with unfounded half truths, outright lies and grandiose claims.

The Obama people kinda sat back and watched, occasionally chastising or just shook their heads. They took their queue from Obama himself, who essentially ignored Donald Trump.

Many of them wanted to lash out and vent their anger but they attempted to emulate old Barry.

Barack Obama is gone now and there is no new leader to Chill them out. They have nearly a decade of pent up frustration with the ill informed subsets of the Right Wing and there is no good reason not to cut loose.

I sympathize. Donald Trump is principally responsible for my affection for Obama. I shouldn't like Barry nearly as much as I do but after years of watching him more or less Handle the Extreme Right I realized he was a better man than I. A better Leader.

Trump has brought a lack of civility and decorum to our politics but that's a double edged sword That swings both ways. Liberals can scream and berate just as well as conservatives.

Historically it's the leftist liberals you have to watch out for too. A little crowd of them once wrote the Declaration of Independence, another group toppled France, still another group waged war across the entire length of Asia and beyond. Angry leftists tend to do things.

Trump may have woken a sleeping giant. The liberals have been in retreat for 3 decades in this country. For so long that most don't remember how they were when they were motivated and focused. Every time he opens his mouth he reinforces that focus.

... To be fair, they go on to cite a definition of a turd found in The Oxford English Dictionary: 'a person regarded as obnoxious or contemptible.'
