The top Republican on the House Ethics committee just got nailed with major ethics complaint

The top Republican on the House Ethics Committee just got nailed with an ethics complaint for violating FEC regulations that prevent campaign donations from his own Congressional staffers.

Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-TX) is facing the complaint after his staffers engaged in a pattern and practice of unlawful reimbursements for otherwise lawful expenditures.

Itís yet another black eye for House Republicans serving on the ethics panel, following last yearís scandal which led to Rep. Patrick Meehan losing his seat on the same committee and resigning in disgrace after the married Congressman was caught hiding a workplace sexual harassment lawsuit settlement for proclaiming his unwanted love to an aide half his age.

The House Ethics manual is clear that the behavior Marchant is accused of is prohibited, but that didnít stop him from breaking the rules eighteen times over a ten year period, that we know of.

1. Big deal. It's not as if he broke a real law such as the Hatch Act.

3. How many GOP lawmakers or Admin officials have been charged and convicted now?

86 in the past 56 years last time I checked while during the same amount of time 1 or 2 Dems were actually convicted. That's with a GOP Admin being in charge the majority of those years if they claim that's because the Dems controlled the government more.

This is a statistic that's fun to drop on GOP supporters and apologists when they speak of Democratic corruption. Shuts them right up.

The Trump admin will surely increase that number bigly before it's all over.
