Jordan, the jut-jawed Republican and anti-gay crusader in the House, is singled out in the suit: Hes one of only three former school officials named, including Strauss, though the action is aimed at all the coaches, administrators and others in positions of responsibility at OSU who, it claims, stood by while students and student-athletes were repeatedly sexually abused, harassed, and molested, and forced to seek treatment from a well-known predator even after they complained. (Strauss was the sole team doctor for the wrestlers; the men say they either had to choose to let injuries go untreated, as the lawsuit says some did, or subject themselves to yet another assault.) .
Back home, where Jordans political future will be determined, local media are determined not to let him slide. No more denials. Jim Jordan must acknowledge what he knew, the Cleveland Plain Dealer editorialized this past weekend. Jordan has made it clear, though, that the truth will have to be pried out of him. (He says he is cooperating with independent investigators hired by Ohio State, though what he tells them may never become public.) If either or both of these lawsuits lands him in court, it will be.

(11,554 posts)His many years of enabling a sexual predator have long deserved much more attention and his degree of complicity requires revealing. Its likely there are many more skeletons in Jordans closet than we currently are aware of. Generally, overbearing zealots have much to hide.

(2,500 posts)But if you follow the twitter feed and scroll down it says that 30 students have filed a new lawsuit against OSU a couple of days ago stating that OSU employees (including Jordan) knew of the abuse and failed to act. Add this 30 to the 166 previous plaintiffs.

(58,785 posts)This was from yesterday's Columbus Dispatch. Gothmog just grabbed the wrong one to lead with, but that one's seemingly still around somewhere also. After trying to get the previous 3 federal lawsuits dismissed, earlier this year a federal court said it would seek mediation for two of them.
An additional 30 former Ohio State University students have filed a lawsuit against the school, alleging that university officials knew about sexual abuse by Dr. Richard Strauss but failed to address it.
Most of the plaintiffs in the suit filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Columbus are former student-athletes from a number of sports, including about a dozen former football players. They are all listed as anonymous John Does.
The plaintiffs are represented by Dayton attorney Michael Wright, who is representing another group of former OSU student-athletes mostly football players in a separate, companion case filed in May. ...

Scumbag Jordan was unopposed in the last primary. 32% voted against him in the GE, by far mostly Democrats of course.
Most of those who voted for him must be voting against Democratic "lies" about this fine man that they've been refusing to believe. He got some cover earlier this year from a report commissioned by OSU that "found" Jordan and other managers knew nothing about what was happening, despite the efforts of some staff to fight it and of course the reality that it was widely known among OSU students.
But this isn't going away for Jordan. And if these lawsuits crack that dam of denial, Jordan's history of at very least condoning and empowering a sexually depraved and abusive environment that preyed on innocent boys should disgust and anger Ohio's conservatives, even more than it does liberals.
Speaking of intense disgust: OSU University President Michael Drake found the findings of the report he commissioned "shocking and painful to comprehend" in a letter released with the report.
