(8,144 posts)did prevent more mass shootings.
At least we could stop inviting them with our recklessly lax gun laws or lack of same.

(51,567 posts)Or Mass Murder Prevention. I remember hearing that the term "baby killer" during the Vietnam War had a pretty big impact on people. We need to be using realistically brutal terms for these realistically, brutal actions by American Terrorists.

(5,554 posts)We need to keep guns away from dangerous people; better background checks, red flag laws, and licensing (with extensive vetting) is a must.
But it goes further than that. The root of the problem is the rise of deranged hateful people who want to kill as many people as possible. They are using guns now because available and horribly effective. The gunners like to try and shift blame away from their guns to focus on people. They are half right; we really need to work to fix both ends; gun safety to mitigate damage when people attack, and explore what makes these people go off so it can be prevented. I believe that even if we were finally able to institute reasonable controls, would attack in other (though less effective) ways.
We need a holistic approach.

(22,976 posts)Even gun safety would be far better than gun control.
But your mass-shooting prevention term makes an excellent umbrella that not only covers guns, but also their manufacture and distribution. All examined from a perspective that includes common-sense and public health/legal concerns.
