I have known her for years and we were in touch just last week. She says that the run for Congress is a big learning experience, and she is absolutely determined to see this through to a successful conclusion.

Valerie is incredibly smart, and incredibly dedicated. She is grateful for all support, both material AND moral, so please don‘t hesitate to send her notes of encouragement if you live in NM-3. Tell her hi from her RW friend from Texas who lives in Germany. She‘ll know!

Due to her „previous job experience,“ for lack of a better expression, she will doubtfully be posting on some blog where some opponent can spot something to be taken out of context to be used against her. She is nothing if not careful.

However she is always happy to hear of support, especially when from inside her district. Rally or town hall attendance, LTTE, whatever, it‘s all good.

„Her RW friend from Texas“ does NOT mean „Right Wing!!“

We both attend a regular gathering that happens to have those initials.

I told Valerie about the moral support here, and her reaction was, "Love it!!!....There can be a lot of negative, so that's great to hear."

Just so you know--I didn't forget!

When she wins New Mexico will have all women Congresswomen and the only Native American Congresswomen ever. I’m really proud of that.

They don't like her and are taking her seriously. Both positives to me.

So Plame's the one running to fill the seat to be vacated by Dem. Ben Lujan. She's currently ahead of all competitors in donations, and some will be particularly happy to know she's pledged not to take corporate PAC money. Powered by the internet, this is fast becoming a Democratic thing! (At least where constituencies have plenty of disposable income, and most in Santa Fe at least certainly do.)

Rep. Lujan is the former DCCC chair whose work on creating the midterms' blue wave caused his colleagues to elect him to the new post of Assistant House Speaker, #4 post and highest ranking Latino. He's running for the senate seat being vacated by Democratic senator Tom Udall.

And in the roll-out to its first printing as CIA Director Hayden was attempting to block its publication, she spoke out with a forceful but quiet grace and dignity (Charlie Rose show? I think?) that really stood out to me.

She's (very) active her local arts community as well, which gives her a special place in my (personal) list of DC up and comers. There's a part of me that want to move to her district just so I can cast a vote for her!
