Simone Biles just became the first gymnast to land a double-double dismount, and it's incredible

https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/10/us/simone-biles-double-double-trnd/index.html

(CNN)Simone Biles just made history. Again.

The 22-year-old just became the first gymnast to ever attempt and land a double-twisting, double somersault dismount off the balance beam, according to Team USA.
It's jaw-dropping.

It seriously doesn't get old.
The five-time Olympic medalist and 14-time world champion completed the move on Friday at the 2019 US Gymnastics Championships in Kansas City, Missouri.
Earlier in the day, Biles became the first woman to attempt a triple-double -- two flips and three twists in the air -- in competition during the floor exercise. But the gymnast just missed the landing, falling forward.
Biles expressed frustrations after her miss, saying she was "pissed off," according to Team USA.
But just a few hours later, she completed the double-double dismount, so it doesn't seem as though the star is letting anything hold her back.
Biles is currently in first place at the two-day competition, almost two points ahead of the second-place contender.
The tournament will continue on Sunday, and Biles is expected to win her sixth US title, something that no woman has done since Clara Schroth Lomady in 1952.

GUTS! Courage! Confidence! Then comes skill.

All recognition to her. Well deserved.

All I can imagine for me would be something getting badly broken.

It would not be the balance beam getting broken.

Just astonishing, what an amazing 'hold my beer' performance!

See that nonchalant front somersault at 24s? Crazy!

and I was just frozen, even though I was only 3 feet off the ground and there was a big old mat underneath. The skill required is astounding.

was so good i had to watch it several times..all a blur but the slo-mo really enables you to see a glimpse of the difficulty of this dismount. Impressive!! And wonderful they will name it after her - another Biletic move!

How do the judges even? Unless they slow it down on a replay for them but do they do that?

Anyway, what a fantastic performance!

It is so great to have people like Simone who can make you beam with pride for Team USA in contrast to the constant embarrassment we have to endure from Trump and the republicans. Way to go, Simone!

I am a 54 year old woman with lots of hip and back problems, so I kind of see her as an inspiration. No, i will never be able to do the amazing feats she does, even when I WAS her age I could not, but thinking of her and how she moves so fluidly and like magic! really helps me when I have stooped down and am having a hard time getting up!
