Yet, I will admit that reading about the latest Donnie Shit for Brains turd that comes out of his mouth...and the media and DU responses, often elicits anything from a chuckle to a rip roaring laugh.
It's entertaining to see the talking heads on the MSM chuckle and laugh about this shitshow.
But... this shitshow is causing real and possibly irreparable harm to real people and our fragile form of government.
Can any of you picture this fuckstick sitting there listening to the President who beat him in 2020 at the inauguration of his successor? Can you even imagine that?
Do you picture his cult peacefully accepting the outcome of an election?
With a recession looming and the loss of the Asian markets for a generation, can you picture the media placing the blame where it belongs, or will a Democrat once again be expected to clean up the mess... and be blamed when the mess isn't cleared within a month of taking office?
Can you imagine the shitshow that is going to happen on election day 2020? How many threats from assault rifle hoarders would you think it would take to make certain voters stay home?
I suggest that we stop fucking laughing, no matter how funny and stupid this shitshow is.
I can't see in my mind, anyway that this ends well.
That's not funny, that's terrifying.

win or lose in 2020, we are in deep trouble. this nation already had suffered damage that would take generations to repair, now the damage may well be irreparable.

(1,402 posts)I agree - DJT is the scariest, most rabid person I've ever heard of in my lifetime. He just doesn't give a damn about anyone but himself - I hope this can all be resolved peacefullly but to tell the truth, I doubt it. DJT won't let it be resolved peacefully - his whole purpose is to cause people to turn against each other and fight anyone that doesn't think or look the same way they do. Unfortunately, apparently there are a lot of similar people on this earth and DJT has got all of them in his pocket!! Scary!!

(1,414 posts)If somehow we overcome election meddling and outright vote fraud and we are able to install a Democrat in the White House there is no fucking way trump leaves the White house peacefully and furthermore there is no way that at least 30% of the voting population would accept a trump loss peacefully. We, friends, have a very serious situation here and very serious considerations to make. We must vote and not be intimidated, but we also must be ready. The situation is deteriorating rapidly.

(14,169 posts)I don't know how Stephen Colbert, Samantha Bee, or any other political comedian can even do it anymore. It must be so tiring to have to create comedy from madness like this. Its not making jokes about those that make fun of the President wearing a tan suit, its trying to make comedy after those same idiots are in power themselves. Its all a kind of black comedy. A comedy that hurts as much as it helps.
And no, I don't see Trump just accepting defeat. If he feels like he has a large minority behind him, I have no doubt he will refuse to attend the new inauguration. And will probably hold some big rally on the same day railing on about a rigged election and encouraging his cult to rise up to "save" America. And that's not even surmising what he, and a Republican Senate, will be doing in the transition period.

We gave him derogatory nicknames, etc. etc. Maybe it made us feel better in the moment. We were fooled into thinking it would help to demean him.
We all know how that worked out.
I don't find anything funny about it any longer. I think we all need to buckle down and do our part to elect Dems up and down the ballot. I think we need to put our money where our mouths are, even if all we can afford is $10 a month to any Dem candidate who needs it. If someone can phone bank or go door to door for a candidate, then do it, even if it's only for a day or two.

(11,910 posts)there were actually people on this board that were hoping Trump would win the nomination because he would be so easy to beat.
Picking a presidential candidate for all parties is serious business because the party(ies) that loses the general, or has the position stolen from them, is stuck with the other guy. Better to make sure that all who are running, no matter what party, are decent people.

I truly felt that there was no way Trump would win and under normal circumstances he wouldn't have. Honestly, I was more concerned about a "moderate" Republican like Jeb Bush or John Kasich getting the nomination.
Republicans who could cozy up to the center.
Was sure that Hillary had it in the bag and the only thing left for her to do was start interviewing cabinet choices.

(13,952 posts)Not by a long shot. The other side is greedy and evil, looking to loot and/or destroy our system of government as we know it. We, on the other hand, are fighting to preserve whats good in our government. Sure we have a few lunatics but, with very few exceptions, theyre harmless. Almost all the danger in this country comes from the right wing, without question.

(20,018 posts)Time after time, people fight wars, suffer, make great sacrifices that are never repaid.
They lose loved ones, not to mention arms, legs, eyes, their homes...
Finally the bad guys take a pause and things don't get worse for a little while (but they never get entirely repaired) and then it starts up again and good, innocent people have to suffer some more.
To try and cast that in a good light is completely evil.
It writes off as unimportant the lives lost on every go-round.

(2,596 posts)it reminds me of the book "Lies My Teacher Told Me" by James Loewen. One of the main points he makes is that in school history is taught as a bunch of inevitable outcomes while discounting the efforts that it took to make change. If I'm not mistaken (which is very possible as it has been years since I read the book and I can't check because it is in storage) Gandhi is one of the examples he uses of how change is made.
After reading the book it kind of ruined some movies for me. My wife loves the movie "The Incredible Mr. Limpet", but then I read "Lies My Teacher Told Me" and "Bloodstained Sea" and I started to wonder if the movie was kind of insulting to all the men who lost their lives in the North Atlantic:
