I had an interesting discussion recently regarding how a single negative experience can have long term negative impacts on profits and shareholder values. I will use as an example a personal experience:
In 20102, "Papa" John complained that Obamacare would cost as much as 14 cents/pizza to provide health care to all of his pizza chain's uninsured, full-time employees. Later analysis showed that it was actually less than 5 cents.
While I had been a weekly (sometimes more) customer, once I saw what he thought of the employees that gave him his wealth and allowed him to give away millions with the NFL promotions (and finding/restoring his own personal first car), I haven't ordered from that company since, and never will. Schnatter has been kicked out by the board since then, but the damage is done, it doesn't really matter.
Second experience is with Sam Adams beer. I like beer, and I especially liked Sam Adams, but after what founder Jim Koch said after a dinner with Trump (just google it - even local mayors had enough and said no more), I haven't given his company a single penny. While I used to miss Sam Adams, it gave me a reason to try other brands, and I have found what I like. No more Sam Adams, ever. They made themselves irrelevant.
Does anyone else have a similar experience?

I don't order from LL Bean anymore. I also used to buy New Balance sneakers because they were made in the USA, but I no longer buy them. Both of these companies have donated large amounts of money to 45.

(24,365 posts)I listen to MSNBC in my car and on their app on my phone while I drive, and Papa Johns has been spending money buying ads promoting franchise opportunities.
I read that they were looking to change or at least alter the name of the chain after they bounced Schnatter from the board.

(4,690 posts)I'm also boycotting Yuengling. I used to be a fan of their Black & Tan but haven't bought one since the head of the company came out for Trump. I miss both but I can't support a company that supports Trump.
Are these people stupid? They're hurting their brands.

I've renounced the NFL ( a difficult thing), I won't shop at Home Depot and if they opened a Hobby Lobby here I would likely burn it down (just kidding). I won't go near a Crap-Fil-A or Papa John's, but for the record I don't do fast food. I don't watch cable opinion shows or cable at all for that matter. It's been over twenty years since I walked into a Walmart and I never ever order anything from Amazon...period.
I walk to work. I've had a life-long love of automobiles but won't drive anymore because of the damage that they do.
