Trump needs to lie on top of a lie to prove he was right. No matter how stupid it looks.

...It is important because it shows his waste of time on a lie. His thinking on a lie. He has to be correct all the time. One lie on top of another on top of another on top of another. All he had to do was say, "I made a mistake with the Alabama prediction." Everyone would understand that, because we all make mistakes.
...So instead of admitting he made a mistake and being honest about it, Donald Trump proves he is a stupid liar over and over. Almost everyone sees his stupid lies this time. It is so clear to 80 percent of us. The 20 percent that believes Trump are his "true believers." They will always believe him no matter what he says.

Admitting a mistake is a sign of "honesty" but Trump doesn't care about "honesty." He never has and never will. All the time he wants to look .."strong". So instead of looking "honest" with admitting a mistake, he looks like a "stupid liar" which is what he is.

Yes, he has a personal pathology that feeds this.

BUT, it is his primary survival instinct.

He is moron, and there is no master plan, but he knows this is how he controls his fans, and the spineless GOP.

Constantly putting them into the position to have to defend the indefensible keeps them in their state of complete disassociation from reality and decency, and in a perpetual state or rage and anger.

get plywood and board up their house in Alabama. If they did, they probably deserve it. An immediate correction and apology for any inconvenience the mistake may have caused would have been sufficient. He'd have to admit he misspoke and it would make him look stupid for not paying attention to his updated briefing, but no one really expects him to any more.

Now we need to know just who it was that actually drew on the map and what was said to them at the time.

But at the time of the erroneous tweet, at least two people with better and more pressing things to do had to stop what they were doing and correct the record and clear up the confusion Trump had caused. Trump's actions were simply reckless, and he can't stop defending them, because he's a needy little man who can't face the fact that he's as fallible as everyone else.

Everyone with half a brain knows exactly who he is. And these stories, no matter how disturbing, never seem to reach his base. So this kind of behavior will continue...
