THIS is more worrisome:
2004 - 219M eligible voters
% turn-out = 55.7%
2008 - 230M eligible voters
% turn-out = 58.2%
2012 - 235M eligible voters
% turn-out = 54.9%
2016 - 250M eligible voters
% turn-out = 55.5%
*2016 non-official totals, estimated...
Turn-out is crucial to success in all levels of government...we can't afford to have 45% of eligible voters stay on the sidelines and abstain from elections.

(42,523 posts)4. I got polled by Gallup the other night and they asked about my approval of the branches of govt.
Problem was, they only ever asked about 'Congress', not House and Senate separately. That made it very difficult to answer those questions.
