The Republican Convention, Paul Ryan and Baghdad Bob

Last edited Sat Sep 1, 2012, 12:48 PM - Edit history (1)

Remember Baghdad Bob? He was the Iraqi Information Minister on TV when the U.S. military entered Baghdad.

As American tanks rolled across the screen behind him he said: “There are no American infidels in Baghdad.”

While the screen filled with U.S. troops he proclaimed: “We have them surrounded …”

As the scene behind him became flooded with GIs and armor he insisted: “They’re not even within 100 miles of Baghdad … This is an illusion.”

We all laughed our asses off – Republican morans included. So why didn’t they spend the three days of the Republican Convention laughing their asses off at all the transparent lies and illusions surrounding them?

When they make a movie about this, Paul Ryan would be perfect for the role of Baghdad Bob.
