Trust me, the world of runners is a cult.

I know this. My son is a member of this sub-culture. They live and breath for the next issue of Running Times magazine, their newest pair of trainers, the new route of hills they map, and their weekly milage totals. My son runs more miles in a week than I drive.

Fabricating PRs is a Cardinal Sin in the running world.

Another alienated group of voters, now highly insulted by the lies of a poser.

Way to go

a lot of people would be sufficiently proud to have run a marathon in 4 hours, or even 5 hours. Why does he need to lie about it?

2. It's like anything else...it "makes them all look bad," even if it doesn't.

I'm the same way over mu Italian heritage. Any negative talk or prejudice directed toward Italians (or any boneheaded, regrettable stunt by an actual Italian) makes me bristle.

That's why I can't stomach "Snooki"...she is Chilean by birth and adopted by Italian parents, and she's made a career out of playing a vile, piggish cartoon of what actual "Italian" women are like.

So I don't run and currently know any runners personally (but have known a few in the past), and yeah...someone like Ryan standing up as the poster child for their world and then lying his ass off won;t work in his favor.

The cyclists are willing to shell out $12k for this year's latest edition of carbon frames and parts.
