I fully expected to see him say something negative.

He's complimenting the fact that she is young and is involved. He isn't agreeing or disagreeing with her cause.

I know he said, "bright future" and it doesn't go with her message, but he is wishing her well in the future.

They talked that way about us when we were in high school when we were involved in a worthwhile cause. (Even if the grown ups didn't believe in our cause)

This is a new low... we keep saying that... he wants Ukraine off the front pages. I don’t usually buy the “distraction “ argument because I think all the awful things he does are because he is awful, not because he has some plan to it. But this time he definitely wants to refocus the media.
