Ryan's lie, much better than we think..He just defined himself to many.

We all know people who got a great deal. Good looks, physical strength, money, position, connections, fame etc...Ryan has that..
But it isn't enough..
..He goatta be a less than three hour marathoner. More, more. and More... People, who strive honestly, runners, swimmers, exercizers, all know how hard an achievement like that 3 hour marathon is. And he lied about it. And he knew it. Cause..the 3 hours is an achievement, the four is not.

It isn't enough to have what he has, so a week ago, he has got to lie..about nothing..a nothing thing..like someone else..

let us see..."Oh, I read them all." Remember? Ryan did this to himself, and he will be the but of jokes forever..and ever..great..
He will not be liked at all.

Rove's team of operatives kept tapes of everything Gore said at any time, any place, ever.

Then they pored over everything, looking for any possible mistake--an accidental substitution of one federal official for another, a date slightly but insignificantly wrong--and spoon fed the whole "serial exaggerator" meme to the press lock, stock, and barrel.

And they ate it up.

It was all part of the "attack your opponent at the strongest point." Before Rove's chicanery, Gore was known as so moral and upright that he was vaguely boring. So (just as he would later turn a genuine war hero into a treasonous imposter) Rove set out a strategy to completely undermine Gore's quite deserved reputation as an honest man.

In Congress he pushed legislation that supported the developments that led to what became the Internet. He listened to the military researchers and kept their funding for what seemed like a minor in house tech project. The folks credited with inventing the Internet have all said that Gore's support was critical.

They didn't build it alone. And Al Gore never said he invented it.

I believe his words were along the lines of 'I took the initiative in creating the internet', or very close to that.

Which was sort of true, but its actual point of creation was up for a lot of debate. Which made it difficult to argue the point. Which led to people saying it was an exaggeration, which then led to the flat out lie of a meme stating he said he'd created the internet.

I get it. I know how it went down. I was right there every step of the ugly journey defending him. I still do to this day.

What he did say was much less of a lie than what Ryan said. Yet, it is still being distorted to this day. If we don't use Ryan's words to our advantage, we're passing up a huge opportunity.

If that's all you got from what I said you're being unreasonable. I did not say Gore lied. I pointed out what Ryan said was more of a lie. If he'd not run the marathon at all it be a flat out lie. Instead he lied about his time to try and make him look cool. Which was stunningly stupid considering he's running for VP not prom king.

I also pointed out that what Gore said, was mostly true. His intentions were at least perfectly honest, that's for sure. It was just poorly worded which made it difficult to defend. It was then turned into something which he did not say at all. If they could do that to Gore, over what he said - WHICH WAS A POORLY WORDED TRUTH - why can't we do as much and more to Ryan? We have a lot more to work with in Ryan's case.

You train for six grueling months and you know your projected time a full month before you run. Completing the run is a huge event, and your time becomes enormously important to you -- no matter how fast or how slow.

Four hours is not fast, but finishing is the key. When you trim over an hour off your actual time, it is a conscious decision to fabricate a lie to make yourself look good. ("Who will know? It was 20 years ago. We had to wait 2 hours for our times to be posted on a piece of paper.&quot

29. I find the marathon lie more offensive than the others
Sat Sep 1, 2012, 07:04 PM
Sep 2012

You expect politicians to do a certain amount of lying. Usually it take the form of excerpting out of context, or stretching the truth. But these guys seem perfectly comfortable jut lying straight up as if the facts could not easily be checked. That is really troubling.

But I find the marathon lie even more troubling. I have never run a marathon. Far from it. One time, I did run 11 miles and it took me over 3 hours. Running a marathon in any amount of time is impressive. To do that requires a great deal of mental toughness and courage. There are lots of people who have done marathons in around 4 hours. That is a major achievement in my book.

To do a marathon in under 3 hours -- that starts to get in the area of world class. A person cannot possibly do that without intense training and a huge personal commitment. For Ryan to casually claim he ran a marathon in under 3 -- well, that is like saying "I rode a spaceship and walked on the moon" when actually he rode a bus to the shopping mall. Not even close.

How can a person say something so outrageous and not expect to get caught in their lies? And why lie about something that should be inconsequential. I understand why his political speeches are full of lies. If he told the truth, he would have no chance of getting elected. But why lie so badly about something so inconsequential?

That tells me Ryan is a person with a serious character problem, if not a clinical mental disorder -- a person not nearly qualified for high office. This is a person who has never held a significant job outside of his family business and his many terms in Congress on the government payroll. And he has never been seriously opposed in his Congressional races.

The upshot is that he has obviously never been held accountable for his words. It is not that he has an utter disregard for the truth. He doesn't even know how to tell the truth. The very concept of truth has no meaning to this man.

Romney knows the difference between truth and lies. That's why he is fighting so hard not to divulge his tax returns. Paul Ryan is far more dangerous to America's future than Mitt Romney.

This was in 1984. To say you ran a two-fifty something is

for a twenty-year old! A sub 3 hour marathon is like a
