I keep hearing how well "2016" is doing. But I have to ask: where's the VISUAL proof?

Anybody witness throngs of movie goers watching this propaganda?

The success or failure of a film is determined by box office receipts, am I correct?

We all know how the GOP keeps its rancid books on the best seller lists.

What's keeping them from buying bulk tickets in order to prop up this POS film?

"No proof of affiliation is required, but the TEA Party asks that you affirm that you are of voting age and meet the criteria as an independent, undecided or Democrat."

Reminds me of going to a concert in the 70's w/Jeremy Spencer as the draw, and once there it turned out to be a Children of God lure. My boyfriend and I were separated, guys trying to sell him on the "community", women doing the same with me. Some of these Baggers are just as brainwashed and deluded.

I couldn't believe it but it is doing better than Premium Rush and Hope Springs. Movies like this do very well. The people who go see them are very motivated. They want to promote the movie and its ideas. Just look at when the Christian tv channels produce a Christian movie. Churches take group outings to go see those things. The good news is is that these were people who already felt this way. It's not like they are really winning a lot of independents over with this movie.

that would explain why it is doing well, but most independents are smart enough to recognize this tactic. My husband is an independent and wouldn't go see this movie if they paid him to see it. The people that are seeing it are the ones who already hate Obama. Just like those of us who went to see Fahrenheit 9/11 already didn't like Bush.

But it looks to be doing steady business. Movies usually dip down a lot during the week and then bounce up for the weekend. 2016 is staying pretty steady.

And the proof is this Friday. It expanded into 600 more theaters but did just about the same as it had been.

http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=2016obamasamerica.htm

From over $2,000 a theater last Friday to $933 this Friday? It's still doing decently, but this week will be the high point for number of theaters. It may top $20 million overall, and all for a piece of trash analysis that was debunked the instant D'Souza wrote about it in Forbes magazine 2010.

I waited until I could see "Atlas Shat" on Netflix streaming, for free. Which is good, because I could stand about 3 minutes of it, max. You don't need to spend $10 bucks on a movie to know it sucks.

Don't encourage people to spend 10 bucks on crap. The thesis of "2016" is that Obama was "programmed by his Kenyan father to have an anti-colonial mentality which is why he WANTS TO MAKE AMERICA MEDIOCRE"

HURR DURR HURR

remdi95

Let me break "2016" down for you: Short answer? It's FUCKING CRAP. The people busy making America Mediocre are the dimwitted flat-earth creationists and billionaire greedheads that comprise today's Republican Party. They're people like Mitch McConnell, who didn't give a flying fuck about this country and its people for the past 4 years, because actually doing anything to help us recover from Bush's fuckups might make Obama look good.

i doubt the crowd who will watch this tripe will spend any money at the concession stand. that`s where the theater owners make overhead. they`ll start receiving more money from the movie the longer it`s in the theater. this film has a short self life so i bet they`ll be pulling the movie off the screen as soon as they start losing even more money.

There were 16 people at the Saturday noon showing at the Loews Cherry Hill of 2016: Obama's America, but Dinesh D'Souza's slickly packaged political documentary clearly performed better in some of its 1,000-plus other locations nationwide. According to weekend box office estimates, the anti-Obama film, released to coincide with the Republican convention, was making a relatively strong showing alongside The Expendables 2 and Premium Rush.

apparently the movie is full of lies, which shouldn't surprise anyone.
But even the staunchest anti-Obama factions should be wary of the fallacious content flying around in D'Souza's film.

Mon Sep 3, 2012, 09:58 AM
Sep 2012

That's whose been talking up this piece of shit and continue to do so. It's been a lonely year on the decrepid AM radio dial as one by one the great unhinged candidates fell by the way side. Rushbo and his ilk were left with Bishop Willard...and it's taken a lot to try to rally the bile spewers to fall in line. This "movie" was supposed to be that clarion call...to refocus not on voting FOR Bishop Mittens but AGAINST the black fella.

The "movie" is one hate radio meme after another...the usual affirmation game the shrinking number of brainstems who listen to that crap have come to rely on. It's also a closed loop...the people who are seeing it are those who weren't going to vote for President Obama and any Democrat to begin with...and thus it is and will be an epic fail...

specifically promoting 2016.

As part of their occasional newsletter they suggest that we not "Miss the Most Controversial Film of the Season!" with a jpg of the poster for 2016 and advert copy occupying roughly 8 times the space in the html email as the other two also rans: "The Words" and "Cold Light of Day."

Utilizing the convenient "Send Comments" at the end of the e-mail, I did so, explaining that while I obviously have no objection to the film being screened at their multi-cinema local to us, I do find their unusual extra promotion of it revealing, and politely advised them that my wife and I have rethought our weekly ritual Sunday matinee attendance at their theatre (their ticket sales person even knows us by name), and we will in the future drive a few extra miles to another theatre that is not a part of their chain.

And I un-subscribed to all their mailings.

Their corporate offices are in Dallas (no surprise): "Dallas-based Rave Cinemas, LLC, the United States’ fifth-largest theater exhibition chain, owns or manages 62 theaters and 939 screens located in 21 states across the country under the Rave Motion Pictures and Rave Cinemas brands and has a presence in seven of the top ten Designated Market Areas" - from their corp. web site.

I intend to mail my explanation, in print, to the manager of the local theatre (North Haven, CT).

Let your conscience be your guide.

P.S. Just in case I might have given offense by singling out Dallas, I would note I lived there 14 years, my wife is from Ft. Worth, and we still have family there.
