They know demographics are evolving. With a few short years the Democratic base will spread into Arizona and Texas, when that happens, you'll see what scares Republicans:
A Big, Blue, 396 EC Base! It's coming, they know it, and that's why they're so fucking desperate this year.

(149,588 posts)That's just because of their numbers.
Of greater concern to them (or it should be) is the fact that young people tend to not identify with the Republican party. Young people are more likely to be progressive, and in favor of such things as legalization of marijuana, gay marriage and strong environmental laws, as well as immigration policies.
Because of their harsh views on these progressive topics, the Republicans are finding it difficult to bring young and minority people into their party.
I couldn't be happier, seeing this happen!

(53,661 posts)let them try. The Feds' ll remind them of what happens to extremists who oppose the lawfully elected government. They'll get their butts kicked more soundly the second time around. And this time we'll learn not to give them their guns back!

Obama surprisingly wins IN and AZ (O did win IN in 2008)
Arizonans have to be SICK and tired of that batshittery that is going on in their local government and are in the midst of sweeping them out, including Arpaio and then Arpaio finally gets indicted, found guilty, and sentenced to the Tent City in Phoenix, permanently residing outside.
Arpaio - the Woods doesn't want you.
The voting machine machinations? Permanently revoked and EMP'ed to death.
That is what WILL happen after 2012 - that Obama removes electronic machines from deciding our future - because they are notoriously unreliable and can fuck up anyone's life (as seen by *)
Karl Rove will then finally be arrested, found guilty, 3 months after his indictment, sentenced to death for treason and sedition. Execution should occur within 3 months after the guilty verdict. Why? Thanks to *, the appeals to SC should be limited for federal death row inmates.
What about *? He has been removed from the United States by the U.S. Marshals, blindfolded and sent to the Hague for war crimes along with Rumsfield and the rest of the war criminals. They will face a long prison term.

Just start blasting the F out of the Republicans in print ads, tv ads, radio ads.
Tell them to turn their fucking hate radio off and listen to the real world.

(4,340 posts)It'll require A TON more work to rig the Electoral College. With popular vote, they can spread their fraud across the whole country, making it harder to trace.

(333 posts)but I don't think it's guaranteed that demographics will really change that much in the near future. As the saying goes, "nothing is set in stone." Also, Democrats need to do a better job motivating people to turn out for them during the midterm elections, otherwise we'll continue to face obstruction.
