The windows of a synagogue in Brooklyn were broken during Rosh Hashanah services.
A video showing people throwing milk crates at the the Rivnitz synagogue in the Williamsburg neighborhood was circulated Wednesday on social media.
Police said that the incident took place on Monday afternoon and they were searching for two females who were seen in the video, according to WPIX-TV.

(31,261 posts)It was ethnically driven, but not of the nature of rightwing shooters attacking the synagogue.
It is distressing to see that the kids were Black, but there has been rising tensions between ultra-orthodox Jewish people and Blacks for several years.

(35,296 posts)We hear of an uptick in anti-Semitic attacks. These attacks contribute to that uptick in numbers.

(31,261 posts)There were cases where convoys for ultra-orthodox rabis have driven through Black areas without much apparent regard for the safety of pedestrians. All it takes is one such incident, then a Black person that has ethnic animus use that as a reason why certain Jewish people need to be attacked, it is unjust as hell to the victims, but they were the most accessible.
What happens is thoughtlessness on either side fuels racists and those racists attack innocent people. What should happen is community leaders on both sides should work collaboratively to tamp down mistrust and isolate people that are prone on harming someone just because of what they look like.
