(56,828 posts)nobody I knew admitted to voting for Nixon... nobody. Even though he won an epic landslide in 1972.
I hope it's worse with Trump.

(56,828 posts)he was one of those white working class voters, though he and my mom eventually became more middle class.
However, he did not like Carter and ended up voting Anderson in 1980. He felt Carter was too religious, but Reagan was too much for the rich.

(9,888 posts)in general. I have to hand it to my parents, they never denied voting for Nixon. They were old time Republicans from back before Republicans were crazy. My father hated Johnson with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns. Held him responsible for our major involvement in Vietnam when the Gulf of Tonkin incident happened. Heard about it while driving to work that day and knew it was going to get him drafted (he was, but he stayed in the US) and that it was a Johnson fabrication. Also his father hated FDR. Neither of my parents ever stood a chance of being Dems, although my mother (soon to be 90) has finally gotten it that Republicans are not Eisenhower anymore.

(53,771 posts)question too late. Let's hope it's not the same with the orange bastard.
What a disaster he is. We could've had the most experienced and one of the most intelligent presidents ever in Hillary. The stupidity of so many voters gets more glaringly obvious the longer the idiot continues to make a fool of himself as he embarrasses the country not just daily but hourly.
I have never backed down, dem, rep, "indy" that Hillary was a decent, highly competent public servant.
The stupidity of republicans to prop up this lunatic is in equal, but opposite, proportion of how they spun BHO and Hillary as the spawn of satan - and the public at large's relentless indulgence of their lunacy is beyond any reason.

(334 posts)In my 8+ years living in North Carolina, never met a person who admitted to voting for Jesse, who continued to win by large margins. Everyone was clueless as to how he ever got elected.

(19,051 posts)Old friend who I haven't spoken to in years, loves him some Trump. Disabled living in his mom's house at 49 on food stamps, welfare, and Social Security. Blames his recent cuts to his assistance on Dems.
These people are so far removed from reality it's shocking.
