I had a gay male friend who recently joined FB. He is a very shy, reserved man. Doesn't own a TV and reads a lot. One of the first things he did was "Like" Paul Ryan.

I just don't get it, I really don't.

Oh, and btw, I'm a lesbian.

is that gay Republicans are Republicans first and everything else is secondary. I would venture a guess too that most gays whom are rich enough to want to vote Republican probably have enough money and/or influence to hide/protect their "status".

I'm a gay man and I can't even begin to tell you the number of gay people I have met that put wealth, privilege, and power above everything else. I've met no small number of them who spout off about welfare queens, their taxes are too high, etc. I even met one guy who wants to join that group who wants to put a monument to ronald reagan in every city in the United States.

13. Some gay male republicans I've met online

Some gay male republicans I've met online generally crave father's approval. Their father is a republican or conservative, and they generally adopt his policies to be more like him. Add father's disapproval (or worse being thrown out) for "choosing the homosexual lifestyle" and gay male republicans cling to Republicans even more, hoping it will get the approval they crave. Also they may have been raised in a Republican/conservative household and thus been influenced or brainwashed.

Some also are very religious. Since Republicans have an unholy alliance with some religious groups, this factors in their vote.

The most common reason is more or less "I've got mine so fuck off". These people (and I use the term loosely) really couldn't care less about about the hardships the poor face. They couldn't care that Republicans would gladly divide same sex families and keep gay men and all women from their rights. Hell they couldn't even bring themselves to care about the country if meant higher taxes for them. All they care about is whether or not their taxes might up. And they don't even care about marriage for themselves. Personal wealth trumps all.

All in all, gay republicans are a group of human beings that range from almost pitiable for being brainwashed to downright despicable.
