Richard Engel: Syria Kurdish official told us, reacting to Trump's overnight decision.

Syria Kurdish official told us, reacting to Trump’s overnight decision.
“The Americans are traitors. They have abandoned us to a Turkish massacre.
We can no longer fight against isis and have to defend ourselves. This could allow isis to return to the region.”

I'm not fond of us being in ANY war, but the Kurds are under the gun, literally. We told them to tear down their defenses along the Turkish border, promising them we'd help protect them. And, then we abandon them.

Will *this* be the final straw for Senate repugs?? I'm not holding my breath.

Giving Erdogan the green light to invade is another.

Theoretically, we could have pulled the troops and told Erdogan not to invade and he would have listened. We pulled our troops so that Erdogan could invade, that's the issue here. Sickening.

You actually believe if Trump had told Erdogan not to invade, that Erdogan would have listened, you really believe that?

But another US President, yes. Turkey is an ally and usually does what the US wants if we pressure them, but Trump rolled over for another dictator like he always does.

The U.S. convinced the Kurds to destroy ISIS for us, causing massive Kurd casualties.

Then we conned the Kurds into dismantling their defenses, promising to protect them.

Now Trump invites the Turks into Syria, green lighting them to wipe out the Kurds.

Positively sinister.

They were expecting our promised aid and got gassed by Saddam.

And now, this!

Another American foreign policy fuck up which grows more terrorists, making us less safe.

Good job trumpie!

Beyond that, if any Kurds survive, I'm sure they will vow revenge on our country to their last breath.

I can't say I would blame them if Trump follows through on this invitation for Turkey to massacre their people.

Well, two.

That there are American or allied (yes, I use the term somewhat loosely) intelligence assets that can identify the reasons for this decision, i.e., financial gain for the crook and his family. And that there is a way to reveal this information - to the entire world - that will not compromise sources or methods.
