(10,778 posts)I do wish there was some way for Trump to read a future history book before he dies. It would be the cruelest possible blow to his ridiculously bloated but extremely fragile ego.

(13 posts)I do not know why they do not have a formal vote for an impeachment inquiry. Not doing so only gives Trump and the Republicans an excuse to be assholes.

(83,718 posts)And I seriously doubt they gave a damn that Clinton's impeachment looked bad since they were as one gunning for the man as one.
I already posted you the articles. They do not need a full house vote. Rule of law.

(8,000 posts)I can give you two possible reasons they might not want to put it to a vote at the moment. First, they can campaign against the Democrats in trump districts by using that vote against them. Second, Republicans may want to point to the vote as being purely political so they will whine and moan about political witch hunts and how it should be dropped because it will never go anywhere... all with the hope that public opinion will start going the other way. Right now polls show that public opinion is increasingly favorable toward impeachment. We just need to keep the pressure on and let new revelations drop every day.

(6,925 posts)The more the voters will conclude they have something to hide, as every new day, new damning informations surface (drip, drip, drip). And we're almost ready to win the court cases on his tax returns, plus there's a big chance we'll get the Mueller Report's un-redacted version + the supporting Grand Jury documents, plus the Emoluments clause violations, plus the Deutshe Bank records...
The more crimes see the light of day, the more the polls will show kick-him-out 'n in jail (probably NY State).

(53,410 posts)have any say about anything having to do with government procedure is exactly how people normalize this crap. Pretending theyre in any way decent and honorable human beings is unacceptable.
In the last couple of weeks Ive felt a real release of pent up tension. I feel the Democratic Congress has finally got this. So Ive backed away a little because even though things are happening everyday, or because of it, the pace is dizzying and disorienting. Its of no use to get caught up in the minute by minute happenings.
The funny thing is that as Ive started to relax I find that my shock and outrage are coming back to me even stronger now. Its been a kind of relief because it made me realize I never normalized Trumps crazed Narcissism. After all this time I am still truly outraged. Justice has to happen so we can call ourselves decent people.
