Madame Speaker, do you have the votes? If so, call for a vote, call his bluff.
Thank you.

He would call everything that happened before the vote as tainted. <- his base will love this one.
We are left in the exact same position. An impeachment inquiry.

(1,249 posts)And it might be a good move politically. But the bogus potus will just move the goalposts again.

How many times does Trump have to lie before people realize he can never be trusted?

Support for the inquiry and for his impeachment rise with every new poll. I doubt he will be able to reverse the numbers. They just go up from here.

(42,302 posts)What do you think he and the Rs would do if there was a vote.
They'd move the goalposts. They'd keep on their obstructive path and, with the win of telling Pelosi and the Dems what to do, they'd make more and more demands. Like Republican subpoena power so they could subpoena HRC and Obama records, just to tie things up.
I trust Speaker Pelosi.

(111,079 posts)...she is protecting Republican incumbents, also. They are not real keen on taking a position right now.
If it comes down to taking a vote in the full House, I don't think she will hesitate.
It will be interesting to see how many Republicans in the House are behind the Donald? I suppose they will be almost unanimous.
Does Donald want an impeachment inquiry? It's not like an official impeachment trial in the Senate.
That is why I support the Democrats bringing forth all the charges against Trump that have been discovered to be true. The Mueller Report had ten obstruction charges discovered. There were several proven collusions between Trump and the Russians. Each of the charges should be brought up in a Senate trial, in my opinion. It would be a mistake to go up against the PR machine of the Republicans with just the one charge of a campaign violation in Ukraine.
Democrats are asking for real transparency.
