The US Is Set To Drown The World In Oil -- Just So We Know What Our Climate Politics Are Up Against

Share of production from new oil & gas fields: 2020-2029

Big pie chart:

NEW OIL AND GAS OUTPUT FOR US STATES IS GREATER THAN MOST COUNTRIES

... by the end of the next decade, new oil and gas fields in the US will produce more than twice what Saudi Arabia produces today.

The future of our changing climate and its increasingly devastating impacts across the globe will be shaped by future oil and gas production. And if the future of oil and gas production is decided by what happens in new fields, then it will be determined by what happens in the US in the next decade.

I feel an unspeakable fear for our children's and grandchildren's future planned by oil oligarchs.

Yes, add 'suck' to what they do. That word has worked as cover for too long. Now they are hellcats. ancianita Oct 2019 #5
We need to bring back the oil export ban. roamer65 Oct 2019 #4
We'll have to man night patrols at every extraction point for that to work. ancianita Oct 2019 #6

And we see the prospects of gaining wealth wither and dwindle away for the poor and middle-class, who, we can ask, will be best poised to withstand the onslaught of effects that climate change will have?

While many "die in place" in the coming decades and the drastic impact on food, services and dwellings cascades, (as well a food chain collapse and widespread species extinctions) it will be so convenient to have all the means to survive that modern society and technology can provide. How long that will last for the privileged, we can't know, but there are signs that they are making certain kinds of preparations for that.

It is kind of like we get the movie, Soylent Green as a potential, dystopian future, considering the transfer of wealth and neglect of infrastructure so far.

from Earth. Climate crisis don't care who's rich or special, running or hiding.

They'll never escape the hell they'll bring down.

But we can find them and stop them. We know their names and where they live.

Oil, gold, coal, lumber, salt, etc.

They build nothing. They grow nothing. They have empathy for nothing. They destroy. They dig. They burn. They pulverize. They puncture.

They extract. They give nothing back.

They leave only barren dead rock. Everywhere they operate becomes a moonscape. Hell.

The oil does not need to be exported. It needs to stay here and in the ground.
