(12,712 posts)And we see the prospects of gaining wealth wither and dwindle away for the poor and middle-class, who, we can ask, will be best poised to withstand the onslaught of effects that climate change will have?
While many "die in place" in the coming decades and the drastic impact on food, services and dwellings cascades, (as well a food chain collapse and widespread species extinctions) it will be so convenient to have all the means to survive that modern society and technology can provide. How long that will last for the privileged, we can't know, but there are signs that they are making certain kinds of preparations for that.
It is kind of like we get the movie, Soylent Green as a potential, dystopian future, considering the transfer of wealth and neglect of infrastructure so far.

They'll never escape the hell they'll bring down.
But we can find them and stop them. We know their names and where they live.

They build nothing. They grow nothing. They have empathy for nothing. They destroy. They dig. They burn. They pulverize. They puncture.
They extract. They give nothing back.
They leave only barren dead rock. Everywhere they operate becomes a moonscape. Hell.
