unless he becomes physically unable to be President or goes so bonkers that he’s throwing feces at reporters or something like that.

Impeachment and conviction are more likely to happen.

5. "Impeachment and conviction are more likely to happen." And that's saying something.

Because conviction is so, so unlikely.

As for hurling feces at reporters, I don't think that'd do the trick. I wish I was kidding.

you’re right that a conviction, at this point, is very unlikely. My hope is that we pull 5 or 6 Republican Senators to convict so that it’s bipartisan.

Tar and feathers added to his attire wouldn't hurt.

Just as long as he's removed. Get him out NOW, before he totally destroys this country. It may be too late already.

4. doesn't work. drumpf can just say an incapacity doesn't exist, and it nullifies the cabinet

eventually, if the cabinet protests, it would go to a Congressional vote which would fail (believe it requires 2/3 of both houses)

He has been showing signs of severe mental illness for months. Those responsible for refusing to remove this nutjob from office need to be locked up, an the keys thrown away.

...an "acting" position. Cabinet members have not been through the Senate confirmation process, or any kind of vetting at all. They are all Trump's creatures.

In such circumstances, who among them would even dare bring this up, much less find a majority of Cabinet members to vote with them? There is no honor to be had there.

The responsibility for getting rid of this traitor rests with we, the people, at the ballot box. It also rests with our Democratic representatives, who can expect little help from the cowardly Republicans. And -- shades of the Nixon era -- we the people also have the additional option of taking to the streets en masse to let our fury be known.

We can expect no help from the Executive branch. It's on us and our representatives. Be sure to call and write them. Encourage the Democrats. Save your wrath for the Repubs.

impeach and convict him for incompetence and cowardice before he gets anyone else killed and gives Putin anymore victories. If we keep waiting we are going to wake up one morning and learn he has nuked somebody. The House and Senate must act NOW, he is out of control and dangerous.

What the 25th Amendment Is Really For
By Brian C. Kalt Wednesday, October 2, 2019, 8:00 AM

Public discussion of the 25th Amendment—Section 4 of which provides for transferring an incapacitated president’s powers—has been simmering throughout the Trump administration. After every odd or unnerving public statement by Trump (most recently: crudely altering a weather map with a Sharpie, tweeting a baffling explanation of his use of the word Liddle’, and raising the specter of a “civil war” if he is removed from office), one can find his adversaries on social media questioning his mental fitness. They fume that only cravenness or corruption can explain Vice President Pence and the Cabinet’s failure to invoke the 25th Amendment. “If the 25th Amendment doesn’t apply to President Trump,” they ask, “who would it apply to? What’s it even for, then?"

But Section 4 has worked just as it was intended. The failure so far to invoke Section 4 is a reflection of the 25th Amendment’s design, not a perversion of it.
