Fox's Judge Napolitano: G7 at Trump Doral Is as 'Profound a Violation' as 'One Could Create'

Daily Beast

During Thursday’s broadcast of Fox Business Network’s Cavuto: Coast to Coast, eponymous host Neil Cavuto noted that the announcement of the G7 location “is effectively saying the president has given himself this contract.”

Pointing out that previous summits in the United States took place at Camp David and Sea Island, Cavuto said the White House is arguing that holding the event at the president’s property is not a violation of the emoluments clause.

...snip...

Explaining that this wouldn’t be an issue if this were a meeting of U.S. government officials, Napolitano once again stated that the emoluments clause is to prevent the president from receiving gifts or cash from foreign entities.

“He has bought himself an enormous headache now with the choice of this,” he continued. “This is about as direct and profound a violation of the emoluments clause as one could create.”

6. He is partly right

Of course this stinks to high heaven. But he is wrong to say it wouldn't be an issue if this were a meeting of US Government officials.

It might not be a violation of the Emoluments Clause but it sure as hell would be an issue.

7. Turd45 is basically saying ...

I'm doing it.
I dare you to stop me.

This is the Emoluments Clause

The Title of Nobility Clause is a provision in Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution,[1] that prohibits the federal government from granting titles of nobility, and restricts members of the government from receiving gifts, emoluments, offices or titles from foreign states and monarchies without the consent of the United States Congress.

There is also a provision in the emoluments clause that states it's ok if congress consents it.
Good thing the (D)'s are in control otherwise an (R) congress would have consented and
then spit in the (D)'s faces.
