Trump: "I'm surprised that (Democrats) allow me to give up my $400,000 Plus Presidential Salary!"

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

Doral in Miami would have been the best place to hold the G-7, and free, but too much heat from the Do Nothing Radical Left Democrats & their Partner, the Fake News Media! I’m surprised that they allow me to give up my $400,000 Plus Presidential Salary! We’ll find someplace else!

Don’t you know that?

A guy who had millions handed to him by his dad, had his tuition to a good school paid for, made and lost a few fortunes, lived in a high rise with his name in it, was a star of a hit TV show and fell backwards into the Presidency wants you to know how unfair everything is.

of his "executive" decisions and pronouncements. Someone some of that cash is going to make it to him.

The next Democratic President should appoint a Special Prosecutor to look into that.

Donnie-bo-bonny, you did that salary ploy as a means to look wealthy and unconcerned, even generous. All are laughable. Faux altruism is hard to disguise when the person perpetrating it demonstrates a narcissistic propensity for nothing but self-interest.

That was a mere, meager investment in what you planned to get out of this for yourself and your slug-like spawn, but play it to death and beat the horse.

With DJT it might also be he doesn't want to report it as income since it would be a pathway into his taxes...
But my huge problem here is that you run and are now President of the USA. You are there and paid to do a job. Refusing the money like a rich asshole is a ploy to behave like you don't need to do the job..hey you aren't taking any money for it! Mitt pitched the same BS. "I won't take a salary". You wanted the job, you get paid to do the job and the expectation is you do the job for the American people, not whatever you feel like doing that day.
I don't show up at my client's homes and tell them "I'm free for the day, now let me screw up your day..hey, it's free!". So refusing the salary is a dodge on accountability.

He gave up his salary (if he really did), we don't know because we don't have his tax returns; likely as a PR stunt to show how magnanimous he is not having to take a salary.

You cannot conduct state business with foreign countries paying you directly (because you have not divested yourself of the business) because it breaks the law.

No one has begrudged former presidents and other politicians the ability to make a living after they leave office. What we don't like, and what President Obama has pretty much steered clear of at least till now, is using their former office to lobby and enrich themselves. Like Ryan moving to DC to sell access and lobby to get rich. We don't like the idea of the revolving door between government and private interests who appoints people from Wall Street to the Fed, then they quit and go right back to Wall St.

Trump is not sophisticated at all, he just goes straight in, stuffs the silverware in his pockets and when he gets called out, he complains.

President Obama is a private citizen, but he is also a public figure and people want to hear about what he is up to. A book deal and a Netflix series are perfectly legitimate ways that a former President can make money. President Obama is not trading his position to foreign actors for his own personal gain. If nobody wants to hear from him, his book and his Netflix series will flop and that will be that. Trump on the other hand, sold out the Kurds for the sake of his properties in Turkey, has been pushing the government to pay for his airport and resort in Scotland, and was trying to get the heads of the most powerful nations to meet at his resort. Free my ass.

Not that I can remember. I've also never heard any stories from outsiders that talk about how he helped them out when they were in need or he paid for someone's child's medical bills or college, etc. etc. etc.

Didn't President Obama help Biden when his family was in a difficult position due to his son's medical treatments? Wish I could remember the details better, but Joe Biden spoke about Obama's generosity in his book "Promise Me, Dad."

Salary is just $400,000 per year. However, if you add up the perks, the actual worth is more like $7 million per year.

He makes more just by gouging secret service for golf cart rentals. Then there are the overpriced rooms, meals and drinks.

But I haven’t seen any evidence that he has given up his salary. Everything he says is a lie.

He gave it up, with fanfare of course, to "prove" he didn't care about money. He promised to give it to charity, but we know the value of his promises. Nobody cares about the $400,000 salary; he can have it. We do care about the constant grifting he and his shitty family have indulged in since 2017. They don't even try to hide it.

to different areas of the federal government such as homeland security, the VA or Department of Ed. It isn't like he donates to independent charities that could verify the donations. It is very much is MO to announces donations that he never actually makes.
