that he was already thinking of those millions of dollars as his money, so he feels now as though he has been robbed of a huge bunch of money that truly belonged to him.
Remember how furious he got when Christie was spending campaign funds to set up the legally required transition operation? It was campaign money, but Trump thought of it as his money, and raged at Christie to shut the transition down and stop stealing his money.
Bannon stepped off the elevator to find Christie seated on a sofa, being hollered at. Trump was apoplectic, yelling: Youre stealing my money! Youre stealing my fucking money! What the fuck is this?
Seeing Bannon, Trump turned on him and screamed: Why are you letting him steal my fucking money? Bannon and Christie together set out to explain to Trump federal law. Months before the election, the law said, the nominees of the two major parties were expected to prepare to take control of the government. The government supplied them with office space in downtown DC, along with computers and rubbish bins and so on, but the campaigns paid their people. To which Trump replied: Fuck the law. I dont give a fuck about the law. I want my fucking money. Bannon and Christie tried to explain that Trump couldnt have both his money and a transition.
Shut it down, said Trump. Shut down the transition.

(82,849 posts)The transition is a really good example. Pile on top of that Donald's constant references to "my" generals" all the money he's "saved" (For who? Donald!) by this or that; his rage at Jeff Sessions when the Attorney General followed DOJ guidelines and recused himself from the Russia investigation (my attorney shouldn't have to recuse himself!); his purring contentment with William Barr, who realizes that his role is to serve at Trump's personal attorney; and you get a pretty clear picture of a man who thinks all of this is for him and belongs to him by divine right or something.
Remember how bent out of shape Republicans used to get over waste, fraud and abuse? Any expenditure that wasn't strictly and solely for a governmental purpose authorized by Congress was surely one of those. Now? Trump spends millions visiting his hotels and resorts, and Republicans couldn't be more blase about it.
