moral code and his actions are motivated by self-preservation. Barr on the other hand is a evangelical
right-wing nut with a dangerous agenda.

(24,455 posts)Normally, a roast beef fed Republican stays within a certain political decorum...saving his ass when ugly facts become evident. But not Billy! He's all in with Trump and - fuck his own legacy! Fuck the Constitution and lets make the DoJ Trumps own legal service.
Which begs the question....why?

(10,721 posts)He's a bigoted traditionalist. He wants even more nonviolent offenders to be incarcerated. He has long believed that executive power knows no bounds.
Barr is like Bannon but in a much more powerful position.

(81,455 posts)There must be consequences for the suffering and damage Republicans inflicted on America and Americans. And there must be consequences, severe and real, for Russia.

(82,849 posts)The Obama administration accomplished much, but it wasn't perfect. The decision early on to look forward to the future and not backward to the past in effect legitimized everything the Bush II administration had done. All the war crimes, the crimes against humanity, the corruption, the torture, all of it, was passed over for any reckoning. That paved the way for even worse to happen now under Trump, and boy have the Republicans run with that! As bad as Bush was, Trump has exceeded his evil by orders of magnitude.
It's not even low road retribution; it's preserving, protecting, and defending the Constitution from its enemies. Without the Constitution, there is no United States of America. That Constitution is for everyone, from the chief executive to the lowliest person. Nobody's above or below the rights and responsibilities laid out there.
