“I will say if you just step back from this for a second, the reason I think this is such a big deal is because we have seen the president and his supporters absolutely go after — you know, guns blazing — every senior law enforcement and intelligence official who they have been able to identify as having played any kind of key role in opening up the Russia investigation, right? But now that this has turned into a criminal investigation of the origins of the Russia investigation, that means they are considering bringing criminal charges against people who had the temerity to investigate Russia’s attack on our election and the question of whether or not the Trump campaign was involved in it,” she explained.

“This is the Justice Department investigating itself, potentially bringing criminal charges against its own officials. That itself would be — that would get you a page in the history books under any circumstances. Under these particular circumstances, it’s — this is stunning,” Maddow said.

It is ridiculous... ridiculous... on the bright side if they bring criminal proceedings, the defence will be able to request disclosure of every single pieces of paper that ties this bunch of nasty wankers to Russia and use it in the defence of anyone charged with a crime... the FULL Mueller report, all the investigative notes behind it, all the interviews they undertook... oh look...

news that Steele was asked to come over and testify? He said he would, but would need permission from UK? People were worried he was being set up somehow? They will manipulate what they want to be heard by declassifying; and classify what they want out there.

This is politicizing the FBI down to the Agent level. Anyone that may have privately said something critical of Trump are now a target of a criminal investigation akin to Joseph McCarthy and the military. Will there be a thin blue line where agents stick together? Not when currying a favor of the boss will get you ahead. Will the American people trust what Barr comes up with and what if they don't. Only one person matters here and his mailing address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington D.C. This new McCarthy era is a sad day for America.

When the "leader" of a country becomes the law itself we have crossed the line from any other form of government to a dictatorship. The illusion of elections may fool some but when "leader" can direct the law enforcement agencies to selectively target, investigate, and prosecute people whom the "leader" deems to have acted against the "leader" that is not any form of democracy I know of.

It will result in the country losing the people we need to protect us from threats far and wide. I wouldn't work for the CIA or FBI if investigations could be reopened on a political whim and my reputation and finances would be on the line. Anyone they decide to target will have to hire an attorney or two. It won't take their fellow agents long to figure out it's not worth it. What a waste of taxpayer dollars, too. There will be grand juries and maybe trials and the outcome is already known. No one will be found guilty. They'll just be left with massive legal bills.

14. No surprise

It should shock no one that William Barr and the DOJ are part of the Trump campaign for President. He's got an AG, a mess of law enforcement officials, and tons of judges that are loyal to Trump and his financial and political interests over the US constitution.

This is probably just a smoke screen and no one is going to be charged with anything more than maybe filing some paperwork incorrectly. But the day is coming where Trump sends Barr to arrest his critics, and there won't be 1 thing that can be done to stop it.
