I'm sick of the "well Obama and the Dems have nothing to run on" bullshit. So I compiled a list that I have easily memorized and can spout off in about 3 minutes to wing nuts.
1. Obama passed the stimulus bill. $787 BILLION for shovel ready projects and other funds to keep the economy moving. Most economists have said that these stimulus funds significantly helped in the darkest days of the recession. Since the stimulus passed 3.7 million new private sector jobs have been formed.
2. Obama passed health care reform. Like, love it, hate. He passed it. It was something 5 other Presidents tried to do to no avail. 32 million people not covered today will be covered in 2014. Pre-existing conditions? Goodbye. Kids in college up until age 26 will be covered.
3. Ended the illegal war in Iraq. Brought thousands of troops home. 'Nough said.
4. Eliminated Osama bin Laden. Something Bush didn't do. Republicans only DREAMED of doing.
5. Turned around the auto industry. GM and Chrysler were going bankrupt. The crash of the US Auto industry would have cost nearly two millions jobs between auto workers, auto parts workers, dealers, etc. The government might lose $16 billion at most. Is that price we might have had to pay to save a few million taxpayer jobs?
6. Repealed Don't Ask Don't Tell. Gays and lesbians can openly serve in the US Military.
7. Lead in the Libyan uprising and the elimination of Gadhafi.
8. Improved relations with overseas countries and has overall improved the US image abroad.
9. Helped to pass Wall St. Reform. Dodd-Frank Bill law helped to tighten restrictions on loans and capital requirements of banks.
10. Has begun the slow removal of troops in Afghanistan. Peak troops was about 101,000 and now down to about 81,000.
11. Passed Fuel Efficiency Standards. This will double the fuel efficiency of autos by 2025 saving significant in fuel.
12. Increased support for the US Veterans. Increased the Dept. Of Vets Affairs budget by 16 percent last year to help with the troops coming home.
13. **Would have passed a powerful jobs bill but was blocked by the Right Wing in Congress. (I know he didn't actually get this done...but it would have been done if the lunatics on the right didn't stop it.)
