GOP Anxiety Deepens![]() https://politicalwire.com/2019/10/31/gop-anxiety-deepens/ GOP Anxiety Deepens October 31, 2019 at 8:30 am EDT By Taegan Goddard “Republican concerns are mounting about President Trump as damaging information piles up regarding his dealings with Ukraine,” The Hill reports.
“The dam is not yet at the bursting point, but anxiety — fueled by the sense that more revelations could emerge at any moment — is rippling through the GOP.” “More discord could burst into public view soon. There are tensions about the White House’s strategy, with the most fervent Trump allies favoring a hard-line approach and others expressing misgivings.”

1. I think Bolton is the key to blowing up their damn.
He's a rw hero and the very people drumpf is counting on are the ones who have loved and promoted Bolton for decades. They certainly trust him more than they do drumpf (and with good reason) so this would be absolutely devastating. Soon we will see if Bolton loves party more than a robust American (not Russia first) foreign policy. I can't stand mustache guy, but know he hates drumpf and hoping he will go after him and his criminal treasonous policies.

7. Bolton called Ghouliani a "hand grenade"
and if he felt he was humiliated enough by Drumpf, the hope is he'll throw that Ghouliani grenade right into the WH.

2. How distressing that must be for them
If only there was some action they could take, some expedient they could adopt, that would relieve their anxiety. Perhaps, just perhaps, they could place the needs of the country over their partisan party politics? Do what's best for the United States instead of what's best for foreign and domestic dictators? Honor their oath of office instead of the oaf in the Oval Office?

3. It's all about their perception of how this affects their hold onto power
When their internal polling shows Trump hurting their ability to retain control of the White House or the Senate or regain control of the House, Trump is history.
To retain their base, as much as possible, they want to make it look like the Dems took him out. Imagine them asking themselves this simple question: "Are there any other Republicans who would do better against the Dem candidates than Trump?" A few internally run polls will answer that. It's not rocket science to imagine there are. All they're trying to do is manage the public perception of how Trump goes down so they retain as much of his base as they can. If Trump is the best the Republicans can come up with, they're in more trouble than many think. |
