The Romney team will live to regret putting Ryan on the ticket.

The LIAR meme is out there. The man lies. He is going to end up a drag on the ticket. The same way people soon discovered that Sarah Palin was unqualified to serve as President if the situation presented itself, people will come to view Paul Ryan as a loose cannon.

6. Why isn't he campaigning?

His only public appearance yesterday (freaking LABOR DAY) was to have cameras watch him take a boat out for a spin.

It is as if:

a) He just doesn't care

b) He figures it is lost, so why put in the effort

c) He has it locked up because of all the ads they can run the last 50 days and all the voter disenfranchisement in the works.

I can't believe either B or C. The thing is just too close for that,

I guess there is an option D, which says he has campaigned a whole lot over the past 60 days and it hasn't moved the needle at all. The one big opportunity left is the debates, so there is no point in campaigning. Just rest up for the debates.

That is, in effect, what he said yesterday. I think it is a poor move.

On the other hand, he doesn't have much of a message.

- I'm a businessman. Yeah, we understand the kind of business you ran.

- I'm here to save Medicare. Yeah, we see through that.

- Well, Obama isn't really an American

I mean, the last couple of times out (including his acceptance speech), his main thing was the birther argument. If that's all he's got, it probably is best to just shut up for awhile.

I'm betting the unreleased taxes issue will be revived after, or maybe even during the Dem convention. I've heard that former employees (now unemployed) of Bain acquired companies will speak at the convention as well. That indicates to me that these two potent issues will be coming around again to bite Mitt in the behind again.
