Here's another live view from inside the DNC right now ... just an overhead cam, nothing going on. I'm scanning the internet for a bit locating streams. Peace.

I'm such a wuss! I loved the kids with the Pledge of Alliance, but cried when the lady from Glee sang the National Anthem. Now I've seen Governor O'Malley and hope to see the Mayor from San Antonio and John Lewis soon.

Just finished listening to Cory Booker, who I was mad at earlier in the year but learned more about him and wasn't anymore. They just approved the full platform, which is on a pdf available on a link posted here.

And they just played the opening chords of Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA. A few of the people on the podium seem to have scratchy voices. Must be talking too much. Pretty quiet crowd there.

Health insurance. He's speaking now after a video of his story. He's from Colorado. Then it just hit me...

My dad passed away many years ago, because when it came time to get surgery, despite the fact he owned his own business, worked almost all the time, and made a lot of money, he had no health insurance.

They wouldn't insure him because he'd had a heart attack earlier, which is a pre-existing condition. All of his medical was straight out of pocket. Just the way it was, we accepted it. He died just before he was going to have his 52 birthday. His sister died at the age of 40.

My other relations with company health insurance and later Medicare, lived much longer. That finally hit me as he talked about the loss it makes in your life. Not having known anything else, I accepted it like they did. It didn't have to be that way, though.

If they'd had a law saying that my family members and many other people's families, could not be turned down for insurance that they could afford, how different many lives would be. And I think of all that talent and hard work they did, and it's gone with them.

So, I'm definitely voting for Obama, and I know my family would have, too.
