Schiff Whacks Nunes' Witness Requests: Will Not Abet 'Sham Investigations'

House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) responded to Rep. Devin Nunes’ (R-CA) witness requests Saturday, saying that he would not allow the impeachment inquiry to become a “vehicle” for more “sham investigations.”

Nunes, ranking member on the committee, sent his list in a letter to Schiff earlier on Saturday, naming the whistleblower and Hunter Biden among the people Republicans want to testify.

Schiff responded in a statement, saying that he would give the request “due consideration.”

“This inquiry is not, and will not serve, however, as a vehicle to undertake the same sham investigations into the Bidens or 2016 that the President pressed Ukraine to conduct for his personal political benefit, or to facilitate the President’s effort to threaten, intimidate, and retaliate against the whistleblower who courageously raised the initial alarm,” Schiff wrote.

This is what the whistleblower's attorney told House Republicans who asked client to testify in impeachment inquiry

Following the GOP's request, the whistleblower's attorney reiterated that his client is only willing to answer questions in writing.

"My client's complaint has been largely corroborated. Nonetheless, I have offered to have my client respond in writing, under oath, and under penalty of perjury to Republican questions," Andrew Bakaj said in a statement to CNN.

Bakaj said he is "concerned this is part of a larger effort to unmask my client's identity" and said urged members of Congress to "step back and reflect on the important role whistleblowers play in our constitutional republic's ability to oversee itself."
The attorney said members of the intelligence community must disclose when they have a reasonable belief a violation of law, rule or regulation has happened.

He's a stellar Congressman but too low key, like Kaine, who was no help at all in 2016. He may be why we won VA, but seeing what's happening there, I think we would have won it with a dynamic candidate.

Biden and the Whistleblower can just disregard any damn request to show up. Works for Russian GOP. Nothing happens, right? Executive privilege. Schiff should call up tRump, Pence, Mulvany, CONway, Graham, Paul and Gooliani, if they show up, then we can talk about Biden and the Whistleblower.

16. Update: Schiff says whistleblower testimony is 'redundant and unnecessary'
Sun Nov 10, 2019, 01:25 AM
Nov 2019
"The impeachment inquiry, moreover, has gathered an ever-growing body of evidence -- from witnesses and documents, including the President's own words in his July 25 call record -- that not only confirms, but far exceeds, the initial information in the whistleblower's complaint. The whistleblower's testimony is therefore redundant and unnecessary. In light of the President's threats, the individual's appearance before us would only place their personal safety at grave risk," Schiff wrote to California Rep. Devin Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee.

The few requests that seemed reasonable (Morrison for one) would need to be reviewed for repug reasoning and might be ok but Schiff, whistleblower, whistleblower atty, anyone whistleblower talked to, Hunted Biden, Joe Biden - 100% DOA. Let them squawk, I don't think there's anything they can do, but they are ratfucking criminal traitors, so am anxious about this.
