David Brody reports God's name has been removed from the Democratic National Committee platform.
This is the paragraph that was in the 2008 platform: "We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-givenpotential."
Now the words "God-given" have been removed.

(257 posts)The GOP will make hay with this, but the principle is worth it in my opinion.
possibly losing an election of a 3 letter word that over 90% of the US believes in is "totally worth it", we can all cheer about our principals after the GOP puts us back into a feudal system. We can be the serfs with spines!

(33,956 posts)The previous platform was 2008...this one is 2012.
And remember...whatever is God-given...can be God-taken...as in this phrase.

(10,960 posts)Second, here is the actual language change:
2008
2012
See the two are exactly the same except for the excision of "god-given"... oh wait, they're not at all the same.
Maybe "God-given... drive" would have sounded... um, insane?

(12,017 posts)Even after that powerful speech by Michelle. Even after the parade of amazing speakers. All Greta Va Susteren could obsess over was the missing God in the platform. Fox ignored the substance, the economy, the attacks on Romney, and dangled that red cape in front of its god-crazy base.
