The one thing that bothered me about Obama is that in EIGHT YEARS he did nothing about the voting machines. Not one thing.
The first day in office I would have gotten the DOJ FBI FEC all together and launched an all out investigation across the nation re those machines and what hacking/fraud went on, esp after 2000 & 2004 elections.

methods, are up to individual states. That's Article I stuff in the Constitution. Second; state attorneys general, the Federal Government, and others have had the makers of voting machines in the courts since the early 2000's. Obama had the DOJ investigate them and then took them to court for for Anti-Trust (Fed's jurisdiction) violations within about one year of taking office.

There were multiple investigations before, during and after the Obama administration. Your claim is utter nonsense.

Besides being a shameless self-promoter and a combative Twitter addict a la Dolt45 she is not that popular outside of a small slice of even the Dems, while independents can’t stand her.

She’s gone as far as she’ll ever go, and that means she’s anything but the future of the party. That’s why it would behoove her to Twitter cat-fight less and learn how to be an effective legislator more. If she’d do that, I believe she has a good chance of being competent enough at her job to have a long Congressional career.

Katie Porter, Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell are far more the future of the party than AOC will ever be.

Currently "represented" by John "Barney Fife" Rutherford. The District is bady gerrymandered, and so far has been a stronghold for RepubliCONs.

"So far" because a new Democratic challenger has stepped forward and launched her campaign this week:

Jacksonville-native Donna Deegan, the founder of The DONNA Foundation, announced her run for Congress on Thursday.

Healthcare is a top priority for Deegan and she says she wants to help ensure healthcare is a right for every American. She mentioned hearing the desire for background checks for gun sales from both Democratic and Republican voters and says she would support that as well.

Deegan says she's interested in finding out what people want and being their voice in Congress. She also says she doesn't like how divided politics have become and says she decided to run now because she believes we are at a pivotal point in our country.

Source: First Coast News.

This is refreshing, because Rutherford won't show his face in public. No town hall meetings since he was first elected.

The Jacksonville native and longtime news anchor is a three-time cancer survivor.

"I began hearing stories of women who were traveling the same road only they were trying to decide between putting food on the table for their kids or saving their lives," Deegan said.

She is the founder of 26.2 With Donna, which draws thousands of marathoners from around the world every year.

She has my vote, and I will donate to her campaign.

John Boehner drew that district for him. Did the same for himself. Goes from Westchester where he lives. Up 75, around Dayton,( Democratic), up to Miami Country.

Republicans put Committee on the ballot because they were afraid Democrats would win. Won overwhelmingly, but does not go into effect until 2021.

They found enough heavily gerrymandered districts to make the alphabet!

How do you spell ‘gerrymandering is bad?’ With a font made out of preposterous districts.
By
Kayla Epstein
August 2, 2019 at 4:28 p.m. EDT

In case you didn’t get the memo, allow these designers to spell it out for you, literally: Gerrymandering is bad.

Gerrymandering is the process of drawing congressional districts to give one political party electoral power over the other, or to ensure safe seats, which often results in fairly ridiculous district shapes. It’s a partisan problem that has garnered bipartisan scorn because both sides do it. Opponents of the practice say it disenfranchises voters and can skew the balance of power at the state and national levels.

{This is the best explanation of gerrymandering you will ever see}

To illustrate their scorn for the practice, three Chicago-based digital creatives created a font whose letters are composed of real-life districts, their borders so contorted that they resemble letters of the alphabet. Some states, such as California and Arizona, have attempted to stop gerrymandering by allowing independent panels to draw districts instead of lawmakers, though that hasn’t deterred the Ugly Gerry team from using California districts to form the letters “A,” “X” and “T” or Arizona’s 6th to represent “O.”

I told my husband that after the census and redistricting if he is still my representative that we are moving. I told him I deserve better.

I believe this is going to backfire on Ohio Republicans. Ohio has a brain drain the youngest best and brightest are leaving. Ohio is low on the scale in number of higher educated people, and most of Ohio is not a diverse population. I expect them to lose one to two Representatives and electoral votes after the census.

48. Without gerrymandering, districts would still have funny shapes.
Sat Nov 16, 2019, 04:05 PM
Nov 2019

Even if a computer drew the lines, which is what should happen, the districts would have odd shapes. Assuming, that is, the computer were programmed to make sure the districts are diverse.

What also ought to happen is a major expansion of the US House, and there should be less disparity in terms of population size of each district. Having a single Representative represent a million or even half a million people is ridiculous. And for some districts to have 1.5 or 2 times as many people as other districts is also unacceptable. Then again, they don't really represent the people in their districts anyway; they represent moneyed interests.

53. A handy illustration
Sat Nov 16, 2019, 11:38 PM
Nov 2019

Monday morning Miss Jones walks into her class of fifteen 4th graders and announces, "Instead of studying our usual four different subjects, for this week only we're going to study just one subject ALL week. Either English, or... math."

Groans! But there are some good math students in her class, so, some yays, too.

"Which one?!" the now very anxious students demand.

"We'll have an election to decide." Sighs of relief from the majority. "Who will want math all week?" 6 hands. "English all week?" 9 hands -- to 9 students' cheers of "We win!"

"No, hold on. That wasn't the election, that was just data collecting. Kristen, please switch with seats with Darryl." Two confused kids comply.

"This isn't decided by how many students want each subject, but by how many rows choose each. Now, who votes for math?" Three of the five students in Row 1 raise their hands. In Row 2, where Kristen has just been switched to, there are now also 3 votes for math. And in Row 3, which Darryl just joined, zero hands are raised.

"And who votes for English?" The other 9's hands go up.

"Rows 1 and 2 choose our week to be all math. Row 3 wants English. Two rows to one, math wins."

Nine anguished 4th graders howl in outrage and protest.

It's 9 to 6, how can WE lose? Miss Jones changed the rows to rig the election! That's not fair!

Yes, Miss Jones agreed, she had manipulated the seating and caused just 6 votes to "win" over 9 votes.

And, she further agreed: No, that isn't fair.

"Now everyone open your math textbooks to page 53 and we'll get started on our week."

Miss Jones' 4th graders, both the happy 6 and the embittered, suffering 9, actually learned two important subjects that week: Math.

And how American elections are gerrymandered. That in most state & federal legislative elections, once one party gains full state-level control, if that party chooses to, its politicians can pick their own voters. Reversing the originally intended concept, of voters picking their politicians.
