It really is a wash. Congress is split. After this week, the Governorship make up is 26-24 ( GOP). The number of state legislature seats are 52-48% ( although GOP has a few more majorities). The state AG make up is 51-49 in Democrats favor. The Nation is essentially split..

Our country will enact a constitutional amendment stating that if you are a citizen of the United States and have reached your eighteenth birthday, you have the right to vote. Period. No exceptions for little old ladies living in rural shacks, students who are spending four years in a college town, or people without a driver's license. Citizen=voter.

We should build a special medium security prison on some remote, windswept Aleutian Island just for felons who try to prevent people from exercising their right to vote. Five year minimum sentence with no chance of parole.

Of course, being a Democrat, I can suggest measures like that, because it would benefit us. I'm sure Republicans would prefer laws that require five different forms of photo ID, a membership card in a Christian denominated church, and visually credible European ancestry.
